Dove release

Has any thought of doing a white dove release after your wedding? I am trying to look into prices/vendors, and I'm having a hard time finding someone in the LI area. Any help? Thanks!

Dove release

Although it would be nice to do something different, I can`t help but think it`s cruel for the birds. They`re kept in cages and then released. Because many people are starting re-consider this, it might be hard to find a vendor.

Actually, they are trained to come back to the cage.

Dove release

I've done the research on the process: the doves are trained to do a full circle over your heads, and either return to the cage/basket or they return to their home. This is why it is important to find a LI vendor, so the birds could have a 'short flight'. I originally wanted to do the butterfly release, but after reading the posts here I changed my mind.So any contact info would be very helpful...thanks!

Dove release

Yes, but I still feel it`s slightly cruel. Although, it`s not as bad as the butterfly release (they`re stuck in paper sleeves until released) or releasing balloons (REALLY bad for the environment), since birds and fish eat the dropped balloons thinking it`s food and they suffocate. Just my 2 cents!

Dove release

I was going to do a dove release, but my wedding was in November, and I thought it might be too cold to have my guests stand outside for the release. Also, make sure you have the time to do the release. We had very little time between the church and the reception..althought I dont think it takes much time.. Check www.doverelease.com for more info.

Dove release

Heather, for my son's wedding, we used Wings of Love. Bob is the owner and can be reached at 516-427-5639. Just as a side note, Doves are homing pidgeons. They know exactly where to fly back to.

Heather

Hi Heather!! OK here's the info.... I'm probably going to use Wedding Wings, but look over the prices and you can choose what's best for you. Wedding Wings 631-289-6473 www.angelfire.com/NY4/Wedding Wings Contact: Frank OK....you get 20 doves for $200 which is the best deal yet as far as I can see. You and the groom each may hold a bird if you like and set them free as well. This is the full package so you can adjust a smaller one if you like, and if you want more you can at $10 per bird. He seems nice, and he calls your photographer to coordinate pictures. I don't know how the baskets are decorated or how they dress so if you call them let me know..... Love is in the Air 516-352-0632 Contact: Lillian They charge $400 for 20 birds (The bride and groom get to hold two as well). That's the maximum pkge. That's double the price of Wedding Wings with the same amount of birds. However, they come dressed in tuxedos and prepare a verse about the symbolic nature of doves which will be read before the release. Their baskets are decorated beautifully and they sound very experienced. They say their birds are a cross between pigeons and doves and they are beautiful. They invite you to watch a live release at your leisure. Joe Montana's Birds of Love 631-696-2930 www.BirdsOfLove.com Contact: Paula The maximum amount of birds they release are 12 (the bride and groom having 1 each). The price is $275 which is more than Wedding Wings where you get 20 birds. They come in suits and they give your guests tulle wrapped packages of birdseed to throw instead of rice. They are very nice. That's all for now!!!!! Good luck!! Let me know if you choose one!
