FH asked our planner yesterday and she said it is actually not too expensive, so now he wants to do a dove release. (would never expect it from him)
what do you guys think? we are having a short and sweet ceremony, and it is going to be very different so we were thinking of doing it.
too much? cheesy? nice?
please let me know
TIA

Re: dove release/butterfly toss
I've never seen it done. I know for the butterflies they're all in lil envelopes that everyone opens at the end. I never would've thought my FI would want that either, but he actually mentioned it might be nice. Maybe worth looking into. I think the prices have gone down since it's not as new of an idea anymore. But it's still pretty different!!!

Re: dove release/butterfly toss
I have never seen either done. But FH and I also wanted to have a dove release. I thought it would be a nice touch after the ceremony. My friend wants to have the butterfly release for her wedding this July. I prefer the dove release but I haven't seen either. I don't think it's too much for the dove release maybe 500.00. There is vendors on here.

Re: dove release/butterfly toss
Okay, I absolutely love Butterflies, and looked into this. There were a lot of posts up here and a majority (90%) were negative. A lot of the butterflies did not survive, so the guests were throwing dead butterflies out onto the couple - Yuck...
I'm sure there are butterfly releases that were positive and it is 2005 - I'm sure companies would have figured it out by now and how to perfect it, but it wasn't worth a chance. Too much responsibility in the up-keep. They send you the btflies before they hatch in their cacoons (sp?) and they're sent in some type of a freezer thingy, you take them out the night before or something and put them in boxes/envelopes, etc. Just seemed like too much work.
As far as the doves - obviously that wouldn't happen, and it's a great idea. Too expensive for five minutes personally - but it's all a matter of choice. It's beautiful.

Re: dove release/butterfly toss
never seen the doves, but my best friend did butterfly's. they work very well. when we opened the lil packages they were in, they just fell to the ground. very few flew. however, it was in october and very cold so that may have had something to do with it
