Down the aisle...
So... I know I have some time before I really have to finalize all of this... but how are you all doing the aisle situation? Are your FH parents walking down? Are you having your girls walk down with the groomsmen? Are you having grandparents walk down?
How does this work with step-parents?
This is my dilemma:
FH has a grandma and his parents.
I have no grandparents, my mom and stepdad and my dad and stepmom.
I'm not sure if I want my dad walking me down the aisle. We've had a tumultuous relationship the past few years... and honestly... I'm not sure if he'd be able to fit down the aisle (he's a very large man... severely morbidly obese). I can't have my mom walk me down the aisle and NOT my dad because that would just cause unnecessary added drama that just doesn't need to happen.
Do I tell my dad I want to walk it alone? Do I have my dad and step mom go down together and then my mom and stepdad? Does FH's best man(his brother) walk his grandmother down?
How does this all work?
edited for spelling :)

Down the aisle...
Hmm tough situation...I saw a bride walk down the aisle alone and her groom met her half way then they walked to the alter together to signify meeting in the middle.

Re: Down the aisle...
I had a similar situation (not that close to my dad but not wanting to cause drama by asking someone else) and I also really didn't like the idea of someone 'giving me away.' I decided to walk down the aisle alone and I absolutely loved it - I never felt more like myself and in control of my own destiny than I did at that moment. But, it is a very, very personal decision. Do what feels right to you in your heart. Whatever you decide will be right.

Oh, but to answer the rest, I had my dad and stepmother walk in together, then my mom and my brother, my bridesmaids and then me. All the guys were up at the altar. I had wanted his parents to walk in as well, but his mom had health issues and wanted to be seated early, which made more sense for her.

I think I'll just have all the parents walk in and i'll have his brother(best man) walk in grandma. How did you approach your father about him NOT walking you down the aisle?

I approached it from a positive angle, and said that we were planning out the ceremony and that we would very much like him and his wife to start it all off and lead the family procession and bridal party down the aisle. (I also talked about how I was going to be walking myself because thought I was too old and independent to be 'given away' at this point in my life since I'd been living on my own for years, etc. since that was very true for me.) I also then went right into talking about how I'd also been thinking a lot about our father/daughter dance and how important it was, and what song he would like to dance to, etc. etc. I just tried to focus on all of the other things that he would be a part of. I'm not going to lie and say it was easy, and I know he was disappointed, but it was ultimately the right choice for me. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Down the aisle...
After crying over this decision, I finally made it ~ FH will walk down with his dad, his stepmom will already be seated, his mom and stepdad will walk together, not sure what to do yet about best man (any suggestions??), then bridesmaid and groomsman, then MOH, then flowergirl THEN my dad will walk down half way (actually it's over a bridge and stop at the beginning of the rows of seats), then my mom and stepdad will walk me halfway (to my dad), they will continue to their seats and my dad will walk me up to my FH ~ AHHH!!!!!Welcome New Vendors
