Downsizing My Reception
Hi everyone,So... after months of wanting to have our wedding at Douglaston Manor and a much needed car financing, we have determined its not feasible for us to have a large 100 guest wedding.
I was wondering if any of you have an idea of some nice restaurants we could host a mini reception dinner for. I'm looking at around 40 people. I still want the place to look nice (I love the idea of uplighting) and maybe have a private dining area.
I do like the idea of RARE 650 as our families love steak and sushi but alcohol is not included in their packages which range from 55 to 125 pp. (It is also in our general area). Space for a dj/dancing would be nice but is not a deal breaker.
Any input would help! Thanks!
Annemarie

Re: Downsizing My Reception
Check out Blue in Blue Point - they actually have wedding pricing on their website and are known for their sushi.

Thanks!! I checked out their website and their lunch menu is more of what I was looking for... but it says served until 1pm. Would my guests hate me for having a 8am - 1pm wedding. it seems so early lol.

I went to a nice wedding in Roslyn at a restuarant it was called 388 Restaurant on Willis Avenue. Food was great. They had a private room, not sure on pricing. They did family style for each table.

lol yea that seems a little early but I would call them anyway and see if you can move it to like 1 or 2. Everyone is negotiable these days.

Re: Downsizing My Reception
Look into the Irish Coffee Pub in East Islip and 21 Main in Sayville. I had my wedding at Bellport Country Club and they're the same owners as Irish Coffee Pub. My guests would not stop raving about the food! And I've been to quite a few private parties at 21 Main. I'm pretty sure their packages are reasonable and their food is really good. Good luck!!

If you booked the place for a private dinner I'm sure they would customize the menu and times for you!

This is true- we did it for a funeral at cooperidge inn (you may want to look here too) and they were open to slightly moving times.
