I just got an email from FSIL who works for Disney. She said she finally got a chance to ride the new balloon ride at downtown Disney! She said it's amazing.
She did, however, say that they 'ground' it a lot if it's windy or if there's lightning in the area. It's $16 per person (cheaper for kids) and the line gets really long.
It's open till midnight every night.
Just thought I'd pass this along to all of my fellow disney freaks out there! I can't wait till my next trip to ride it!

it's in downtown disney. It's a giant tethered hot air balloon with a gondola attached to it. From what my FSIL says, you can see all of Disney from it and on a clear day - you can see all the way to Downtown Orlando. It's not a fast, scary ride - just scenic and beautiful.
They've been constructing it for a long time...I'm glad it finally opened!

anyone who is going b4 sept 1st..check into the dessert party at noodles(its in the kingdom,right b4 u go into tommorrowland)..they r having this party 20 bucks all u can eat dessert and u can watch the fireworks from there...im hoping they extend it so fh and i can do it on the honeymoon
