Dr. Hufnagel STahl Eye Center or Dr. Donnefeld TLC

Hi All,
I'm seriously considering getting PRK.
Has anyone had any experience with either Dr. Hufnagel at STahl or Dr. Donnenfeld at TLC. ANy input would be greatly appreciated.

My sister and some friends used Dr. Donnefeld. He was highly recommended by a family friend who is an eye doctor. He said he personally wouldn't use anyone but Dr. Donnefeld. I don't know anyone who used Dr. Hufnagel.

My x-boyfriend, my boss and my sister used
Dr. Donnenfeld and he was AMAZING!

He came highly recommended by even other doctor's in the same field

I do not know the other doctor

Definitely do a board search, there are people who have used Stahl.

I had lasik surgery done in 2000 by Dr. Hufnagel. He was amazing. I had better than 20/20 vision by the day after the procedure. And many people complain of having night glare after the surgery----I had night glare before the surgery and somehow Dr. Hufnagel was able to correct that.

Also, my co-worker went this morning for a consultation with Dr. Hufnagel and she was very impressed.

DH used Donnefeld, and he is the biggest baby! He really made DH feel comforatble and was very nice to me as well.....

DH went for his 6 month checkup and is doing perfectly!

Do you know anyone who had PRK? Tara (peabody on here and LIF) had PRK at Stahl and had an incredibly painful and long recovery. The pain is much, much worse than Lasik. FM here either place to ask, but I know it was a horrific experience with her (she found out at the last minute she was not a lasik candidate).

I've heard the recovery is quite long and painful but i'm not a candidate for Lasik:(

I just had my one year follow-up appt. w/Dr. Hufnagel last friday...he was great!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would definitely recommend Stahl Eye Center

I'm going for PRK THIS THURSDAY at Stahl. I did a lot of research about it... and went for THREE constultations. My first was at TLC, who told me I WAS a LASIK candidate. Second at Diamondvision, who told me I WASN'T!. My last was at Stahl, who also told me I WASN'T!!

I was MOST impressed with Stahl because with the FREE consulation, you met with the surgeon who would be doing the surgery. The other two places, I just met with 'some guy'... one of them, I don't even think was a DOCTOR.. much less a surgeon! I met with Dr. Chang. I later read he's a Harvard grad and has had a LOT of experience doing LASIK and PRK. I also met with Dr. Werner there. I never actually met Dr. Hufnagel. I hear they're all great there. My coworker's daughter had Lasik with Dr. Chang and thought he was GREAT. They answered ALL my questions.

It's a VERY professional office. Stahl was also the ONLY place that told me that I had to have my contacts out of my eyes for three days before my consultation so that they can do a precise orbscan on my eyes. The other two places didn't, and then told me afterwards how the reading wasnt accurate because I had my contacts in. (WELL, YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME TO TAKE THEM OUT!!! ).

I understand PRK is more painful than LASIK, but Dr. Chang explained that with my irregularly shaped corneas, the flap cutting process in LASIK wouldn't heal properly over time. He said that any complications that normally occur usually happen due to that flap phase. i feel better that I won't have to have the flap cut, even though I'll have some initial pain.

Also, while I didn't make this important decision based on price, I did find that Stahl's prices were better than TLC. TLC told me that, for LASIK, I would have had to pay $4600 (and they had a 12 month interest free plan). With Stahl, I'm paying $3240 (after a discount through my company's vision plan, even though it's not covered by them) , and was approved for TWO YEARS interest free!

FM me if you have any more questions. I haven't had my surgery yet (again... it will be this Thursday at Stahl), but I recommend Stahl so far. I'm very impressed with them.

We both used Dr. Donnenfeld. He was highly recommended and was great to deal with.

FH had lasik done by Dr. Werner at Stahl. He saw Hufnagel for a couple of follow up visits. Great office, highly recommend. Best thing he ever did was to get rid of the contacts.
