Dr. Phil today: Hubby on Strike!!!

Today on Dr. Phil

There is a married couple where the husband has gone on strike and is now living on the roof because his wife refuses his request to not have his children sleep in the bedroom with them at night.
He wants alone time with his wife.

The wife is arguing that for 8 months or so, he can put up with their children sleeping with them because she is bonding with them (2 yrs, 8 months).

What do you all think?

I think that the wife needs to kick those kids out and get back to loving the husband....without effort put into romance even after kids, the foundation for the family is weakened.

I have to side with the husband here. It just isn't healthy for those kids to sleep with their parents every night, they need to be in their own room(s)/beds.

Mom needs to let the kids grow up but it sounds like she's afraid to let them go. It's one thing when they have a bad dream or something, but to make it common practice just isn't right for anyone. What happens when the kids get older and now can't fall asleep bc they're so used to having mommy there? Not good!!

I totally agree! 2 years isa LONG time to live with kids in your bedroom

but I think they need to talk it out, i think its kind of strange for the husband to strike on the roof! too sensational! Might make matters worse

I don't blame him at all. If I were him, I'd do the same thing -- only I'd stay in the garage.

they didnt say how long the kids have been in the bedroom

the husband has a camping tent and chair on the roof

Dr. Phil really didnt help them....he basically said the wife needs to spend bonding time with her kids earlier- not a bedtime
and that the husband needs to help her out more and come down from the roof

Neither seemed willing to budge.

he has a website! i think hes doing this more for a publicity stunt & 15 min of fame than to really work things out with his wife.

Publicity stunt aside, I dont think it is that easy to get on Dr. Phil without a legit reason.

First off, I am not a parent. I understand when a child comes into their parent's room when they are frightened or when they need something. But to have a child sleep in a parent's room when it is NOT necessary will surely put stress upon a marriage. When DH and I took the apartment we live in now (and have been for the past 6 months or so) I told him that we had to have enough bedrooms for at least one child if not for two children to share. We don't know when we will be able to by a home but I'll be damned if I am going to have a child sleep in my room. I am not a supporter of the 'family bed'. This family has the room for the children but the wife chooses not to separate herself? Lord help this woman when they go to kindergarten. She will be the mom that is up the teacher's arse. Ya think her kids will go away to college? Nope. They will be home forever and 'Failure to Launch 2' will open in theaters EVERYWHERE!

As a parent I must say I agree with the husband on this. I was a single mom for many years with my first and he slept with me until he was 6. Finally, FH said no more! Thank god he did. It sounds to me like the wife doesn't WANT to have sexual relations with her husband and instead of being honest with him, she's using the kids as an excuse... what a burden to put on those poor children.
