Re: dragonflies by the pool
These fascinating creatures are not only harmless to humans but very beneficial, as their nickname, 'mosquito hawk,' implies. Their iridescent colors and amazing aerobatics delight anyone who cares to spend a few warm, sunny hours by the water watching them in action. Endowed with an insatiable appetite, they gobble up an incredible number of pesky insects like mosquitoes, deerflies, horseflies, blackflies, and no-see-ums, though their menu also includes such benign creatures as honeybees and butterflies. And their presence is something of an assurance that the local aquatic environment is still healthy.
thank you now i am trying to get brave enough to go back out there!!

They are your friends, but I do agree that it's a bit disconcerting when you see a kamikazee pilot making play for your head!!

Re: dragonflies by the pool
My company plays softball in Central Park and there are swarms of them over the fields. I hate them, but if they really don't bother you I guess it's OK to have them around rather than mosqitos
