Drama Begins...what to do?

Drama Begins...what to do?

Okay well STD's went out last week and as you can imagine the FIL's are getting people who are saying that they are coming and cannot wait! Well, FIL's get an email from his cousins in Spain saying that they will be coming with their children! The problem is that we will be having an adult only reception!!! I know that this is rather premature to be worrying about it but what do we do? I do not want them to exclude their children especially since they are coming all the way from Spain! I think that the other OOT's who would not bring their children would be upset!! What would you do?

Either hire a baby sitter to watch just those kdis or all kids in a separate room or just invite the kids from spain.

I mean spain is a lot farther than say connecticut. I think when people need a passport to get to your wedding, they get special consideration

remember one thing, this is your wedding!!! How old are the kids that would be coming from Spain??? Do you have any other's coming from out of the country??? You are 100% entitled to have the children from Spain there & no one else...Of course you will hear some people saying things but that is nothing for you to worry about!

I have a similar situation as that I have tons of 2nd cousin's that are under the age of 18! They are not being invited bc I hardly see them! Out of all the cousin's I have one that I constantly see & FH & I are a big part of his life...So he is the only one invited...I heard things from family members & I told them 'It is my wedding & I get to pick & choose who I want to invite!'

They are 14 and 9! I do not expect the parents to leave them in Spain!! They will also likely be staying for more than the weekend! There will be no others from out of the country!! I just do not want any other children there! There will likely be many that are pissed off if they see them there and their kids are not invited! Its just too early for this ****!!

I would invite the children from Spain & just that is all...None of your other guests will know that you invited the kids from Spain until the night of your wedding!!

i say invite only the kids from spain - thats different circumstances then connecticut. and don't let people bully you into inviting their kids.

Drugs. Heavy drugs.

Nothing is drama free and you will most certainly NOT please everyone.

Re: Drama Begins...what to do?

Is there anyone they can stay with for that one night??

If not I would just invite them and dont even say anything to anyone else, if someone says something the night fo the wedding about children being there, simply explain that they are from out of the country and they had no where to stay.

I would invite the kids coming from Spain, they're traveling so far!!! It's different coming from another state, but another COUNTRY!!! Sorry you're dealing with this sh*t already, but the other OOTs should understand!

Re: Drama Begins...what to do?

personally i would invite the kids from spain- but another option could be to get a babysitter off reception hall property and let spain kids and any other kids that need it stay with the babysitter...then the parents wont be leaving them alone in their country and no one has to be insulted about their kids not being invited

If you don't want children, I would hire a babysitter to watch the children.

I would invite them and no other children, no one has to knwo this and they will just be surprised at the reception.. if they make a comment, they will be told why and simple as that

I agree-I think everyone else will understand- It's Spain- not the next town over! You should definitely invite them.

if you had planned adults only just explain to them that its only adults and thats it... if they want to pay for the kids say they can but its just not possible for you to afford it.
