Drama Begins...what to do?

Original post by MayBride06

Okay well STD's went out last week and as you can imagine the FIL's are getting people who are saying that they are coming and cannot wait! Well, FIL's get an email from his cousins in Spain saying that they will be coming with their children! The problem is that we will be having an adult only reception!!! I know that this is rather premature to be worrying about it but what do we do? I do not want them to exclude their children especially since they are coming all the way from Spain! I think that the other OOT's who would not bring their children would be upset!! What would you do?

Re: Drama Begins...what to do?

I have a similar situation I have some family coming from florida to my wedding and one of my cousins is a single mom and she will be coming to NY with her daughter and I told FH that she is the only kid aside from my daughter to be invited since all of my family will be at the wedding there is no one to watch her. Also she is a single mom and doesn't really deal with the father at all. They are flying to come to the wedding and I would invite the kids and whoever has a problem with it they will have to deal with it.

I'm sorry these people are coming from spain and they should be allowed to bring the children I don't think they would feel comfortable leaving the kids with a babysitter in a strange country think about it if you went to spain would you feel comfortable living your kids with someone. I know I wouldn't. I am sure some people will have something to say but most will understand. YOu can't please everyone

ITs your wedding your day you do what you want to do

Either hire a baby sitter to watch just those kdis or all kids in a separate room or just invite the kids from spain.

I mean spain is a lot farther than say connecticut. I think when people need a passport to get to your wedding, they get special consideration

I couldn't agree more- anyone that says BOO can stuff it! that's really selfish- considering probably anyone the Spain relatives would leave their kids with will be at the wedding- it's not like they can get Judy, the next door neighbors 16 yr old daughter!!

I would have to say allow only the children from Spain. Number one - they are coming much farther than anyone else. Number Two - By the time your other guests with children realize what you're decision was it will be the day of the wedding.
Normally I would say if you don't invite one child its the same all across the board...but I think there should be an exception in this case.
Worst comes to worse you hire a baby-sitter for them...but I don't know how a 14 year old would feel about that

ETS: Never mind the baby sitter idea...didn't even dawn on me that they wouldn't speak english...invite them...its your only solution...they can't be left by themselves anywhere...its your wedding your decisions
