I'm not going to get into the full story since it's just too long to explain, but basically one of FH's groomsmen called last night and told us that he wouldn't come to the wedding if one of my friends was invited. I already sent her a STD so she thinks that she's coming. They have a ton of history together including an illegitimate child who he won't claim. It's caused FH and I to argue way too much and it just royally pisses me off. At this point there's nothing that I can do about it, but I just felt the need to vent for a second.
Thanks for listening.

Re: Drama, drama everywhere!!!
the groomsman sounds like a selfish b@stard... it's your wedding, invite who you want. They should be adult enough to play nice and stay on opposite sides of the room.

I wish is were that simple, but the GM is a close friend of FH's family. Not only is he invited, but so is his brother and mother. It would cause all kinds of drama if he didn't come. I do agree that he's a selfish b@stard though!

Re: Drama, drama everywhere!!!
Laura I have similar issue with one of our BM's. Actually she (BM) is an adult about it but one of our guests told me that she would not attend my shower or the wedding if this girl (BM) is there..umm hello she's in the bridal party
They did have a real bad falling out (basically BM stole the other girls boyfriend) but we're all adults people.
Tell FH to tell your GM to grow up and get over it.

Ditto....And ya know what - If I were you I wouldn't even want him there anymore.

Wow, why are you stuck in the middle of this? You sent her an STD and she is your friend and he is his friend and in the party-- how do you have any control over this?!
Why is HE putting YOU in the middle of all of this?!
Wow, I'm so sorry-- I wish I had more advice

Why do weddings bring out the worst in people?
I'm not going to get into the full story since it's just too long to explain, but basically one of FH's groomsmen called last night and told us that he wouldn't come to the wedding if one of my friends was invited. Holy crap. that's just wack. I'm so sorry to hear about this. Honestly, I'd tell everyone to chill out and this is your (and FH's) day. I've got the type of temper that someone giving me an ultimatum would result in me choosing the other person, but that's just me. Good luck with this.

So sorry that people can not act civilized. I am dealing with it myself. Try not to fight about it, because its not worth it. I am trying to do the same. Good Luck Laura
F*** him! No one gives ultimatums! You don't want to go then don't go- his choice!
edit: I'm mad! This guy has huge balls! It's not his wedding- where does he get off? I would tell him to his face to go f- himself. I can do it for you. What's his number!?!

Thank you so much!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who's fuming over this. After he spoke to FH, I was like, 'You're just going to say okay to this?' I called him back and told him that I'm only going to uninvite her because of FH and his friendship. I also told him that I thought he was a coward and that I didn't want to be around him. I also told my MOH to take his wife off the shower list.

Woman after my own heart! I don't get people. I'm so sorry that you need to go through this but because I can be wimpy (i totally contradict myself! ) I would call my friend and ask her graciously to not attend. why bother with the conflict, is it really worth it?

I am so sorry to hear about your situation. It is so sad that these two people can not put aside their differences for yours and you FH's sakes. I hope it all works out. Good luck!

I don’t know what it is about weddings that brings out the worst in people but unless hey is eating some of the reception costs than his say is completely irrelevant . . . who the hell is he to tell you who you can and cannot invite to YOUR wedding

my response would be to him
oh well, save the dates are already out, and I won't look bad just so you can have your way. Sorry you won't be able to come.
that's it. I agree with Stealthgroom. give me an ultimatum, and I've already made my decision....

Invite them both, but tell them both that the other will be there. Explain that they're grown-ups and should be able to play nicely for the duration of your wedding. It's not right that they put you in the middle of their drama, and tell them so. If they don't feel that they can handle it, they shouldn't come.
