I come from a very large family and extended family
i have 6 sisters and 1 brother, so my immediate family is 26 people ( spouses and oldest children)
I have about 10 uncles & aunts with NUMEROUS cousins
FH and I decided, since we are paying for this wedding alone, we are only inviting immediate family on my side
FH's entire family with aunts and uncles only numbers 10 people, so they are all coming
Now I've got family coming out of the wood work asking me for event dates and wedding date
They tell me they can't wait to party
my one cousin (who move to NC about 15 yrs ago) just ask my wedding date, i think she assumes she is invited (she invited me to hers)
THEY ARE NOT INVITED
do I tell them? or blow em off and they will get the hint when no invite shows in the mail??

Re: drama, how do i deal ?
That is tough, hard not to invite someone who had you at hers.
I'm not sure, maybe a party just for your family?
I'll think about it, but tough!

i would probably tell the cousins and whatnot that you're having a small wedding wtih only your immediate family and you're sorry but you'll find another time to celebrate.
give them time to get used to teh idea
but it's gonna be tough regardless .... good luck

this seems to be the best way to handle the situation. Its tough and some people will probably be offended, but in the end, its your wedding!

Definately this. You don't want to have to keep dodging the questions from people either

I agree with all this. But it still sucks to have to tell them, I''m sorry.

Just be honest. Tell them that since you and FH are paying for everything yourselves that you must have a small wedding therefore you can only afford to invite your immediate family. They might be a little hurt in the beginning but they'll realize you had no choice. So everything should turn out ok. Let them know how much it hurts you not to be able to invite them.

Re: drama, how do i deal ?
thank guys. i wish i could invite them all, but i cant invite one uncle or aunt without inviting the other
or one cousin without inviting the other... so it makes the whole thing easier to invite none, instead of some..
I guess on a person by person basis, ill let a couple family members know...then hope it spreads like wildfire LOL

I think that is ok. I think it would be different if your rents were paying for their family, but they aren't!

This, but since your getting married in April maybe you could do a bbq or family get together where you can invite everyone sometime during the summer. This way they'll still feel like their included in you guys special moment (even if it is a few months later lol)

Be honest..
It's a small wedding and we can't afford to invite everyone that we want to. I'm in the same boat.

Thats a tough situation Love..
I would just let it go for now and if they keep asking explain the truth that you guys are paying for this wedding on your own and its costing a ton of money so you really cant afford to have everyone you wanted to... Tell them its just immediate family and friends and BP...
Good Luck Sweetness! <3 Here if u need me

Honestly I blow them off. Which is soo not like me!! I am usually cut dry and straight up but some ppl who are asking are honestly soo sweet but I am just not close to them. I think if I am my normal bitchy self I might hurt them

Re: drama, how do i deal ?
this is touchy no matter what but let them know you are having a smaller wedding because of budget - whatever reasons so at least they know now
