Drama in weddings

Okay this is probably a rant but I can't help it....is it me or does everyone and their mother have an opinion about the wedding? When you should do something? How you should do something? Why you should or shouldn't do something? And then when you try to state your opinion since I don't know it is your wedding...you get hit with the wow you're really turning into a bridezilla...hmm..I didn't know that actually having an opinion about MY wedding or events leading up to it constitutes being a bridezilla....

okay rant over....sorry guys...lol

Welcome to wedding planning

This is what I say:

'I'd be more than happy to _________ , if you're willing to pay for it.'

'I had no idea this was your wedding, too! When I go looking at dresses, you should come with me, we can get matching gowns.'

Yes I agree. Eveyrone and their mothers and fmil 'S sister has an opinion about EVERYTHING. YOu just either tell them where to go or shrugg it off. I usually shrugg it off. Don;t worry they eventually back off.

Re: Drama in weddings

It´s so funny to read this today. I just had this experience with my mother yesterday. I´ve I´ve said on some other posts, I´m planning my wedding from south america and it´s so hard for me because I am a very detail oriented person. When I was planning an anniversary party for my parents a few years back (and was still living in NY) I went to see a lot of places and ruled out some based on what others might think of as small reasons. So you can imagine how hard it is to plan my own wedding from so far away. I appreciate the help my family is giving me and I do trust their opinions but there are also some details I want to know. And when I try to ask my mother about them she gets on me and tells me I´m stressing over nothing. (I wasn´t stressing - just asking)

Also, we (myself, fh, his daughter and fmil will all be staying with my mother for the wedding. My sister and her husband are also flying up from florida and will be staying there.) As it is we are packed. My parents and the sister that lives there have her own room, obviously, my sis and her husb will be staying in her old room and I will have my old room. In the basement will be fh, fmil and his daughter. In total that already 9 people getting ready for a wedding in a house with 3 bathrooms!! Now she is inviting people officially not only to the wedding (which we haven´t done ourselves because the list isn´t finished and we are not 'oficially' engaged - long story) but also to stay in her house!! And when I asked got a little annoyed asking her where we were all going to fit and telling her that my idea was to just have the fam and bp over to take pics, etc she started getting upset at me!! She said that I was over reacting and making a big deal about nothing. She said that she can´t send her cousing to a hotel and that if we were too crowded we would have to go to a hotel!! I know she only said that becaus she was upset at the moment but still!! She stresses me out!!

omg I can´t believe I just went on like that. I guess i´m not completly over it!!

Anyways, long story short. Its your day and do what makes you feel good and dont let anyone stress you out!!

Thanks everyone!! It's good to know that I can have some place to vent where I am not accused of being a bridezilla....plus its nice to know I'm not the only one that is going through the drama.

You're going to have to deal with this a lot from now on. I can't tell you how many people have had their opinion in my wedding but yet they aren't paying for a thing for it.

I usually say, 'I'll look into it' just to get them to stop or 'oh yes I've seen that.'

You will always have one person who has to say something to annoy you about your plans or how you are doing things. I've had many of these moments; you will need to learn how to brush people off and keep smiling. Don't let them see that they are getting to you, stay strong.

People always do it and I just do not understand it. Its one thing when you are asking for advice or opinions. But when their 'advice' is unsolicited its so annoying.

My new response to people is 'save that idea for your wedding'

Re: Drama in weddings

this is why i don't tell anyone anything about my wedding. when i fully decide on something (the date, the time, a vendor) thats when i tell people what i am doing.

i don't have time for everyone's opinions. if i want someones opinion on something i ask them.
