Dress Advice

Original post by crazy_betty

I need serious help, haha. I'm stuck between 2 wedding dresses, and I'm killing myself trying to make a decision.
Here's the low-down:

Dress #1: Love the style, love the details, love the feel of the fabric. Don't love the fact that I'll need 5 million alterations to make it work on my body. First of all, I need to order 2 sizes up so the top fits my boobs and have the rest taken in. Then, I have to have them put some sort of beaded modesty piece in the deep V-neck so the V is not so deep (girls are seriously poppin' out)! Also, the fabric is thin, so it shows EVERYTHING. Every little bump and line. But it's my favorite look.

Dress #2: Simpler in style, but I still like it. Looks GREAT on and the thicker fabric hides everything... all problem areas are gone! Would probably need minimal alterations.

What would you do if you were in my shoes??

I want to get it at Bridal Elegance because they seem to know their stuff alterations-wise. I'm open to other suggestions though.

In case you need a visual reference:
Dress 1

Dress 2

Thanks so much, ladies!

Re: Dress Advice

I love both dresses.

From looking at the material of the first dress you are right it will show everything. And it is absolutely gorgeous, but if you think you will feel self conscious about it showing everything, then my suggestion would be to go for dress # 2. On your wedding day, you don't want to be stressing over if people can see this or that regarding your dress. You want to get a dress that will look gorgeous on you, but that all you have to worry about is putting it on; nothing else.

The way you talk about dress 1....I think you love that dress! But if you are unsure, then keep looking!

When I saw dres # 1, I thought to myself YIKES, what is she going to wear under it.

I vote for dress #2, very pretty.

Re: Dress Advice

My advice is to give it a week and if one of these dresses is 'the one,' you will know it. I was between two dresses in the store, and when I went home all I could think of was the dress I wound up buying. If you don't feel that way I'd keep looking.

# 2 - if you're worried about it hiding your problem areas and you want to feel comfortable all day, then definitely # 2.

I would say #2 because you dont want to have to many alterations it will really change the dress and its style on you. My suggestion is #2 or keep looking. you got time!

I would keep looking until you find the one you looove. You said you 'like' #2 and as beautiful as it is, you need to love it! Good luck!

I think you should keep looking too!

i felt this way quite a few times in my search...

when i finally found THE ONE...there were no ifs or maybes...

keep searching!! bring photos of the 1st dress with you to places so they can see what youre looking for

and like the rest of the girls said, if you dont find something, you can always go back to the dresses...

my vote is for #1 right now

and maybe buy a slimming undergarment and try it on with the dress, see if it makes a difference...if you realllllly love #1

If you're not sold on either I would keep looking for something in a thicker material that is closer to #1 if that is the dress you like better... That way it is the style you love and will feel comfortable in it!!!

I would choose the second one if you like the fit and fabric better. You don't want to feel uncomfortable on your wedding day. I would keep looking for a little while longer. You might find something you like better. Try it on again in a month and see if you still like it.
