Dress and dancing

Dress and dancing

Is anyone doing a second dress for the reception ? I Love my dress but I'm wondering how the heck I will be able to dance in it! I have a big ball gown. Im contemplating getting a second dress but my mom and FI think its crazy.

Lots of girls get reception dresses - it's very common. For me personally, I don't think I could have changed my dress, I loved it too much. And even though the bustle broke and it tore a little from people stepping on the dress during the evening, I just swung the train over my arm and danced away with no problems.

I got a second dress, but I don't think I'll change into it until the after party - I love my dress so much and don't think I'll ever want to take it off!

I feel the same way. I love my dress and I will only get to wear it once so I will prob not want to take it off!

But a lot of people do get second dresser for the reception or after party.

I had a ball gown and wore it all night long. Once it was bustled, it barely even felt like a ball gown anymore b/c I didn't have to carry the train around.

I wore mine all night. The bustle wasn't done right and it broke, so my SIL helped me and pinned a few more points and the one that broke with safety pins. I couldn't take it at that point, it was still dragging on the floor when it was bustled!! I was tired of slipping on it while dancing.
Just bring safety pins!!! They will save you! I was on the dance floor all night! I wouldn't have done that if I had to carry my train.

Thanks everyone, I have a detachable train so I guess it would be ok ,I was more so thinking about the weight of the dress but I guess I will get used to it. I think I'll get an after party dress & bring it with me maybe change into it after the cake cutting depending on how I feel.

I think it would be nice to have a second dress for the reception but I am paying too much for the first dress so I cannot afford it. Also my dress is so pretty that I wouldn't only want to wear it for a couple of hours and then change. If I was going to do this I would have bought a cheap dress for the ceremony and then a nice one for the reception.

I actually have a friend that bought a second dress for her wedding; but when it came time to change, she couldn't bare to take it off! she wore it to the morning-after brunch.

Exactly this. My bustle kept falling off, and the dress got ripped from people stepping on it, but I loved every minute of being in it!
