Dress Anxiety (pics)

Original post by jovigirl414

Hey Ladies ...

I was bored before and started looking at reviews for my dress. While EVERY review I read had nothing but good things to say, I am still having some dress anxiety. I just feel there really is no WOW factor to it (I'm a gaudy Italian, lol) ... and I'm really worried that the design along the belt line looks too much like snowflakes - my wedding is in August. Would you ladies mind telling me your thoughts?

edit - I have no idea why the file sizes are too large ... Until I figure this out, if you go on David's Bridal's website, the dress # is CT314

Re: Dress Anxiety

Do they still have it at the store? Can you try it on there so that you dont have to unshrink wrap it?

You still have plenty of time...try to push it out of your mind and think about all the other fun stuff you have left to do!!! Re-examine it in a couple weeks/months!

I think the best thing to do, to calm your nerves is to try the dress on again

it doesnt matter how many people tell you its beautiful or that it doesnt look like snowflakes...YOU have to feel that way

try that baby on again! if you don't get butterflies and feel like the most beautiful bride ever...then start having anxiety

but im sure after you try it on again, all your fears will be washed away!

Re: Dress Anxiety

I keep thinking back on all the try-ons I did, and I feel like I listened to everyone else over myself. All I wanted to do was look for a Maggie dress, but I went to David's for sh!ts and giggles first. When I tried on my dress, I was upset from the beginning because I had to try on all 14s and 16s, and I wanted to be thinner for the wedding. I didn't FEEL good in anything I tried on. But all the other brides near me stopped what they were doing just to tell me that this was THE dress for me. They were all busy trying on their own dresses, so I felt like that meant something, you know? So when I went back, my mother was with me, and at first she hated the dress, until I added a brooch to convert the dress into a sweetheart neckline, and thats when she told me I found the one. I ended up never trying on a Maggie dress, and I kinda feel like I settled. I don't know ...

Dammit, I'm trying to post pictures of how the dress looks on me instead of a size 0 model, but it keeps telling me the file is too big - like I'm not self-conscious enough about a size 14!

If youre not happy w/ it then try n get a new one... Try it on again all done up w/ your veils and maybe you can even add beading or tooling for puffiness?

You have time!!

The dress is gorgeous!! My dress is extremely similar (same designer), and I LOVE it. Try it on again by yourself - so you don't need to listen to anyone else!!!!!!! Don't stress, it's such a beautiful dress!

Re: Dress Anxiety (pics)

the dress is beautiful.
It's got just enough to be 'wow' on it's own but give you room to buy some really blingy DOJ

go for a tiara that sparkles, and blinged out set of earrings and big sexy cuff on your wrist.

i feel ya, i had to buy the 14 cause the 12 was too small, BUT the 14 is too big LOL

I'm a real life size 11 ...

that dress is flattering to any and every figure, im sure you look Fan-tab-u-lous!!

Re: Dress Anxiety (pics)

oh and my dress is my 2nd dress... so if your still not 'feeling' it after you bling up your DOJ

go shopping again!!! ... you must feel fabulous in your gown

DCGIRL (michelle) my angel from heaven, went shopping with me cause i didnt love love my 1st dress ( like you i thought it wasn't wow enough)

but i think this dress is gorgeous, however no one cept you needs to be convinced

I Loved that dress when I tried it on. It was between that one and CT258. Totally different. I liked how CT314 has the longer train with the detailing on it but felt the front was too plain for me. CT258 has alot of detail on the top and you feel like a princess in it. It all depends on the look of your wedding though. Try on CT258.

First I wanna say that your dress is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!! However, if you are having second thoughts and its really bothering you... maybe you can go back to the store and try on the sample again to be 100% sure. With your veil hair done, make up and jewelry you are going to look AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

Re: Dress Anxiety (pics)

Aww, thanks everyone! I definitely plan on some very WOW DOJ, my veil is fingertip length (in fact, I just finally found out its in) ... I plan on wearing a blingy hair clip, and of course, my makeup will be caked on (it takes a lot to make me look good) ...

I found a picture online of a girl with my dress bustled the way I want (I think its called ballroom bustle), and once I saw that, I started to feel a little better - when im dancing all close to FH during the wedding, no one is going to see the plain front anyway, right?

YOU are in a 14?? I don't believe that for a second! You look super skinny!

Your dress is beautiful!!! I know how you feel bc Ive second guessed mine and still havent ordered one (and I'm about 6mnth away from my wedding!!! ) But honestly its beautiful! The belt doesnt look like snowflakes and the back is gorgeous. And your jewelry can dress it up to more 'gaudy Italian' lol and your hair. You picked the dress for a reason, when you go in to try it on again, do ur hair & makeup, you'll feel more 'bridey' when you wear it. You have nothing to panic about, its stunning!!
