They did the same thing to me she told me I should wait until the end of the summer
I just called back and spoke to someone else and made an appointment for the week between Christmas and New Year's

Seriously they tell you that dresses can take up to 9 months so wouldnt it make sense to get the dress a little before the year mark.

***?! Why would they even say that to you?! You're giving them business and possible commission! Who cares?! You want to look for your dress now! Ugh! Some people should just keep their mouths shut!

I think it depends on who you talk to there. Some of the ladies tell girls it's too far (which is ridiculous!) When I called I specifically asked to make an appt with Gerri so they put Gerri on the phone and she never said anything about it being too far.
I don't know how pple can think 3/2011 is too far..it's almost a year away!!

That what I thought..it would cut it pretty close with alterations...plus what is something is wrong with the dress or even worse the wrong dress or size

Agreed. I worked with Gerri (and actually made the appt. with her as well) and she did not say anything to me about the date being far. I had explained up front that it was my first time dress shopping (which wasn't the truth but whatever) and I was basically interested in finding out which styles look best on me. Gerri treated me awesome throughout the entire appt., made fabulous suggestions for me, and I told her that when the time comes, if the dress I order is from a designer you carry, I am definitely ordering from her.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one with this experience...all the other places had to problem when I told them my date
We will see how the actual appointment goes

I don't think it is too far away to go looking, but they probably think 'oh her date is 15 mos. away, she won't buy a dress today, let's not waste our time.' which is SO wrong. It s*cks but those places never want you to spend anytime looking around and making the decision, you're supposed to come in, try on about 5 dresses, pay them their cash and leave happily. That's why Say Yes to the Dress really pisses me off. If a bride tries on more than 5 gowns, they get all pissy!

agreed... exactly why I will never go to Kleinfeld's to try on dresses. I will happily watch the show but no way am I going to feel rushed or pressured into making a decision on a dress without looking around.

Re: dress appointment w/vent
dont listen, im a march of 2011 bride, and i lovedd the dress for the girls and the color, and after running into finding a color i liked that they discontinued in the new season, i had to order the new color i choose.
i think its always better to have them late then to have them early, but ppl might feel differently, esp with the BM dresses, its not like its your wedding dress, although mine is already ordered too.
ignore everyone else, i think its the only way to survive all of this planning and stay sane!

Re: dress appointment w/vent
Sorry to crash- I started looking 15 months before my wedding and it's not too much time. Especially if you want a certain designer. It's pretty funny that she would say that- there's so much competition out there, you think they'd want your money!
