dress browsing with mom and moh

dress browsing with mom and moh

so, my moh and father know, but my mother doesn't... I'm taking the two of them with me on sunday to look at dresses... I just don't know where I want to go. I was thinking of trekking out to RK (again) but I don't know if my mother could do the walking through the city and then deal with how hot it is in there, and she has a 'I say things and don't care who hears me' attitude... like if she sees some in a dress she doesn't like.. she'll let them know in a 'that dress is hideous' kind of way. (which is another reason I've been so hesitant to take her)

but yea, should I take the two of them to the city? or just hit some local stores? I think I want to go to paradise and maybe back to village bridal or bridal elegance (I really liked the CS there).
my mother needs to be home by 6:00/6:30 and I told her we're leaving the house around 1:00... but I might make it earlier.

suggestions appreciated!

If your mom has trouble walking, I wouldn't take her to the city.

if your mom can't walk well I wouldn't bring her to NYC. JMHO

I agree with Laura and Shauna... there are plenty of bridal salons that are easier to get to...

she has RA.. and its been acting up.. she walks the city with my father quite often, when they go to see broadway shows... but the last time I went to RK I literally had to RUN to get there in time... and I fell.. twice ( ) so that's where I'm nervous taking her.. BUT thats the ONLY store in NY that has the dress I want(ed).

I agree with the ladies above me re: walking and the city.

I think I replied to your post the other day - but again, if you want to browse on your own through a variety of dresses, try the Wedding Plaza in Floral park - on Jericho. The ladies there were quite nice and it is a low-key atmosphere.

I would stay local

It's also kind of hard to browse at RK. Plus, there can be a lot of standing around and waiting--when you try on dresses, you just come out onto the regular sales floor and there's really no where to sit if your mom starts to feel pain. If that's what you really want to do, I'd go somewhere local.

I would say no. I hate walking, hate crowds so therefor I hated RK bridal lol. Plus, it will be really packed on a weekend, there's hardly any places to sit and if she don't like to walk, I don't think she will want to be on her feet for close to 2 hours in the store.

Paradise has a great selection and you can never go wrong at Village. I wouldn't drag your mom to the city, especially if she has a hard time walking and you're not fore-warning her! HTH!

ETA: Unless you want to keep it a surprise, ask her what she wants to do. Or, I'd take your MOH with you one day to try on the dress you've been eyeing at RK!
