Dress budget

Original post by latinaj

I've been stressing over what my dress budget should be... I figured I could spend abt $1000 in dress and veil (w/out alterations)
All the dresses i like are way over...
and its driving me nuts....

I understand this may be private to many of us and I dont want anyone to feel offended...this is pretty much to hlep me get a better idea of gown costs..Can you guys please share (on the poll) what your dress budget is.
now i know we all have different wedding budgets, but i'd like to get an overall idea of a dress cost..

now this poll is for dress only

Re: Dress budget

My gown, after hollow-to-hem measurement, and after alterations, will be a little over $4K. It's an Eve of Milady ballgown, and not what I was expecting to spend, but I love it, so I had to cave.

I wanted to stay under $1000 but fell in love with a Jasmine Couture Dress. After everything it was $1200.

Re: Dress budget

ok so i put 999-1500 as my answer, cuz that was the BUDGET....

however, my mom spent more than her original budget......... so my dress once purchased actually fit into the next category

but since u asked the BUDGET i put 999-1500 lol

Re: Dress budget

I am going to try to stay under 2k. I would feel extremly guilty spending anything over that. When I go to the bridal shops I am going to tell them my budget. I'm afraid of seeing something is way out of my budget and falling in love with it

my budget was under 1500, my dress was a bit above 1200... plus extra w/ the veil, alterations, etc.

I don't even know how much to budget. Hopefully not over 2,000.

Re: Dress budget

I spent a little over 2500 and it was an Alvina Valenta; I got it at a trunk show which lowered teh cost, but they had to order me a plus size, which upped the cost, and negated the discount. I found quite a few lower cost dresses at Lilette's - most were under 1K that I had tried on there. Also when I went to Village Bridal in Babylon, I tried on some that were just over 1K - 3 weeks later I got a 15% off card from them. I'm sure you could argue your way into 15% off off the bat. Keep your eyes peeled for trunk shows as well. Good luck - you will find something!

my budget was roughly $1000 but the dress i ended up getting was being discontinued so i got it for around $450.

WOW... you're a lucky girl!!

My Mom and Dad are buying my dress, they spent about $1,500 on my sisters dress 5 years ago, so I would like to stay around that, but I have a feeling it's gonna be more.
