Dress budget

I've been stressing over what my dress budget should be... I figured I could spend abt $1000 in dress and veil (w/out alterations)
All the dresses i like are way over...
and its driving me nuts....

I understand this may be private to many of us and I dont want anyone to feel offended...this is pretty much to hlep me get a better idea of gown costs..Can you guys please share (on the poll) what your dress budget is.
now i know we all have different wedding budgets, but i'd like to get an overall idea of a dress cost..

mines about $1400 i think... i was originally looking at jim hjelm's dresses (which were a lot more then that) but they didnt look as good on me as they did in the magazines!!

I wanted to not go over $1000 - i wound up paying $1500

My original budget was $1500 before alterations...I wasn't finding anything I absolutely loved in that price range so I moved up to $3000 at the most.

I did find a dress in that range, but only because it was a sample dress regularly sold for $5400.

My mom is buying mine but I do plan on staying around 1500

i spent over 3k, which i expected lol ballgowns tended to be more but it was still hard, a lot of the ones i liked were around 10k which i was not doing

MY Fh gave me a very generous budget for my dress of $5k. My parents were also going to throw in some money... but every time I thought about spending that money I felt super guilty. I think the most expensive dress I tried on was a Jim Hjlem that was around $4 and then one of the dresses I fell in love with was a Lazaro at around $3500. There was a Paloma Blanca at $2k and a Marisa at $2500. Ultimately the dress I fell in love with and bought was only $1500. They cap the alterations at $250 which is nice and then I'll need a veil (UGH, I really don't want one). So I'm thinking I will be under $2k when all is said and done. FH was VERY happy about this... he obviously did not want to spend $5k on a dress I was going to wear for half a day.

A dress for under $1k is totally possible. You just have to shop around. If Burton's in Meliville carries your designer call them and see what their price is. My friend got her Demetrios there for around $800!!! She saved a ton of money that way.

My original budget was for $1000, but after trying on a Demetrios dress which i fell in love with, im undecided if i should get it b/c its about $2,700...

i spent a lot of money on my dress, but its exactly what i wanted and we really didn't have a budget for this area.

i originally didnt want to spend over $1000 on a dress........ but of course, i fell in love with a dress that was more than that lol.
i tried and failed, but i do love my dress!!!

I told myself i wouldnt spend more then 3k.. of course if i found something that i loved it would be different but i actually fell in love with my dress and it was 1400..

you can do it !!!

My parents are buying my dress... so it's going to be somewhat flexible--- $2,000 RANGE

my budget was roughly $1000 but the dress i ended up getting was being discontinued so i got it for around $450.

when we started looking at dresses my mom said she would buy my dress. so i asked her what the budget was & she said she will determine that based upon the dress that i fell in love with. since she was being generous & not restricting me to look at dresses priced at a set point i decided that i would pick a dress the i loved but she had to love it too.

my budget was 1K, which my gown cost (didnt even want to look at anything thats more). I got it at a trunk show, so it ended up being less. planning on getting a cheap veil (hate them) off ebay and whatever the alterations cost. dont think it would be over 250, so I am totally in my budget

My dress budget was $1200, my dress w/out alterations came to $820 (Maggie Sottero).

Originally it was 3K but the dress I fell in love was Amalia Carrara and it was way more so the budget went way up. So its over 5K at this point but is a gift from my mom.
