Did anyone buy a dress and have them change a lot on it?
IF so were you happy with the changes once they were complete?

I don't mean this to sound bltchy, but If you have to make a lot of changes, why did you choose that dress?
I'm adding a couple of appliques to my train, byt that's the extent of the changes... if I had had to make serious structural changes or design changes to the dress, I would have kept looking for something else closer to what I wanted the dress to look like in the end.

Thats Ok! I can be a lot bitchier I didn't purchase the dress. I tried on one that is mermaid style. I love the top of the dress, but I would change the bottom to a different material. I am still in the process of looking. If you saw the dress I was talking about you would see what I mean.
I would rather not make changes, but we will see how my dress shopping success goes.

I'd definitely say keep looking, I'm susre you can find what you're looking for in one dress without having to go crazy making changes. You might even find something you like a lot better. Good luck

I changed a lot on my dress too, its peronalizing! As long as you dont change the structure of the dress. I would be scared to add anything crazy, b/c once its done its done and if you dont like it its kind of too bad ya know?

Re: Dress- Did you make a lot of changes?
I only changed the top of my dress. The alterations lady at the bridal salon I purchased my dress from will be making the top of my dress into a sweetheart top instead of a straight across strapless.
So to answer your question... no, i guess I only made a small change But I am happy with it.
I would keep looking for a dress that you love and if you can't find one, I think it's totally okay to customize it. It's your special day and you should feel beautiful

Re: Dress- Did you make a lot of changes?
I am making alot of changes just because I am INSANELY picky and I literally looked EVERYWHERE and tried on at least 60 dresses and could not find anything that I loved just as it was...SO when I finally found a dress that had the exact silouette and material I wanted I said OK, this has the potential to be exactly what I want it to be. I really just ordered the dress without the silk flowers it was designed with. I am also having a custom made detachable train made to match the dress. Then I'm having a custom crystal belt made (like the one Chelsea Clinton wore) and the salon will sew the belt into the dress. and there we go...dream dress!

I say keep shopping! Making changes can be costly and then you can end up with a gown that doens't look cohesive.
I added cap sleeves to my gown, that's all

I've gone from having lace straps with this open back to a strapless sweetheart- it will be one of a kind!

I actually changed a lot of the dress! I think it's awesome to make your dress unique! It's something that shows your own personality and makes it special and something that not everyone has.
Take a look at my album and you'll see all the changes I made. And I have to say that I LOVE every single change I'm making!!! And I'm so happy that i made them!
HTH!

Check out Priscilla of Boston when you're in the city... I bought my dress there so I'm biased, but they're stuff is BEAUTIFUL. I think they sell some at Kleinfeld's too, but they were great - could give you another source of inspiration.
