Dress Dilemma....*UPDATE*

Ok girls....I fell in love with a Reem Acra gown that I saw at a trunk show this past saturday...

The problem is that I could not try it on, as it is a runway size 2! I do not think half of my leg would fit in there!

So, I call Kleinfelds to find out that they do have Reem Acra gowns, but NOT t he one that I love....(I saw the gown @ a trunk show in westchester).

Kleinfelds tells me that they can have the dress there for the day of my appointment of the Kenneth pool trunk show in september.
BUT, it's a size 2....My mom is telling me that there is no way she will let me order this dress wothout actually trying it on.

So, thta is the dilemma. If I can't physically try this dress on, yet am in love with it., what would you do??

Update: The Reem Acra flagship store has the dress in a size 10...gonig this saturday!!

Re: Dress Dilemma....

Thats a toughie. You should be able to try on the dress on before you buy it.

Can you try on a similar cut/stlyle of dress from the designer to see how it would fit?

Re: Dress Dilemma....

Can they do a loaner? I know some designers will send out a gown to the stores for like $50 or $100........if you like it, that fee goes towards your payment for the gown. If not, you lose it, but it's a small amount. I had considered doing this with a couple of gowns.

I never though of that...I guess I just assumed that most of the dresses were small sizes.

I have to say I wouldn't buy a gown I couldnt try on.... that's just me. Search HIGH and LOW for that gown in another size. Even contact the designer they might know of a place you can find it.

GL i really hope you find it!!!

Re: Dress Dilemma....

been there done that!!!

Here is my advice:

Try on dresses that are similar. You will get to see how that 'top' fits you, or the way the bottom flows etc. If you try on enough dresses, you know what will look good on yoru body.

Call the manufacturer. Ask them what stores have the dress you want. If they are close, go there.

If not, have them mail it to a store. Most places do do loaners, you just have to pay the shipping, (mine was like $50)

Lastly, if you love it, order it. I did. I never tried my dress on..... same situation as you but mine was discontinued so they didnt have it anywhere other than the origanal sample that has turned dingy and gross from 3 years.

Of course im very nervous since its less than 5 months before my wedding and i havent had my dress on, but i also know that its what i wanted. Follow your gut... sounds lame, but true

Re: Dress Dilemma....

Nope, do NOT order the dress until you have it on.

I felt the same way about a dress and swore up and down to my Mom we should order it and I know it would look amazing, etc, etc.

When I finally tried it on it looked terrible on me I mean, really bad. Had I ordered it without trying it on, I'd've been screeeewweeddd.

I know the feeling but its soooo worth it to wait to try it on and know for sure

Re: Dress Dilemma....

Thanks girls!!
It's a trumpet style dress, which I know is a good cut for my body type, BUT some of them are cut lower, and that inch or two can REALLY make a difference!

I'll keep you posted!!

You really are lucky the store has the dress in a 10 for you to try on b/c you really should not buy a dress w/o trying it on 1st.
I'm sure it will be beautiful on you!
