So yesterday, I went to get my first fitting. I don't need too much work done. However, the front of my dress sits a little bit off the floor. The seamstress was trying to tell me that's the way it is supposed to be because then I won't fall. It is Private Label by G 1226. Anyone know what the front is supposed to look like. I need reassurance. With almost a month to go, I am freaking out!

did you already have your shoes on or were you barefoot? I think in my dress, my toes peeked out.

My toes were sticking out. The dress was probably a 1/2 inch short or maybe that's the way it fit. I don't know

Re: Dress Emergency (private label by G)
I had the opposite problem, mine was a touch too long so I am wearing a crinoline slip underneath.
I think you'll be ok if its a little short, im worried about mine dragging!

were your ankles showing? I think its ok if your feet show a little.
I wouldn't go by what you see on the models or in ads. Those people don't have to walk around. If your dress drags - it will get FILTHY. She might be doing you a favor. I wouldn't freak out just yet.

Hi dress twins! I haven't gotten my dress yet (since I ordered it really late!) but I think it's fine to have the top of your shoes showing...I agree that it will make it less likely for you to trip!

I agree, having your toes peek out is OK - it will probably make you life easier the day of!

Re: Dress Emergency (private label by G)
Believe me your better off. I had the same dress and it was about an inch too long, I was scared to trip so when I walked down the aisle I was literally kicking the dress out in front of me and then the rest of the night holding it up.
I was watching a special on tv and this topic came up. The dress is supposed to be 1/2-3/4 inches shorter because it falls throughout the day, especially strapless dresses. The shortage will allow the dress to fall without you having to worry about holding it up while you're dancing.

My dress was slightly short in the front (the back was a train, so that didn't count.) Believe me, it's GOOD if it's a teeny bit short. You don't want your shoes catching in the hem, and you don't want to step on the hem, either. I saw some recent bride's review on here where she posted pics of her stepping on her hem as she went up the aisle. You want to be able to walk normally without thinking about it. That said, it shouldn't be that short, although I've heard of brides having it hemmed pretty high because they really wanted to show off their shoes. That I can understand, I LOVED my shoes, and I was happy that the toes showed when I walked. They had sequins on the toes.

MY dres was hemmed 1' above the floor with shoes on...and let me tell you it was the best decision ever made...walking around without your dress bustled is the hardest thing in the world to do when your dress is touching the floor, you cant walk up stairs without hoisting it up and really walking is a chore. I say, walk in it up stairs if possible-my toes definitely peeked out but it was not too short

i agree with the other ladies that having the gown be a little short is not bad at all. It makes it easier to walk and it shows off your shoes.
this is one of the gowns i'm absolutely in love with.
