My cousin gained some weight and tried on her dress two weeks ago and it didn't fit ! She has to lose 5 pounds since the tailor told her then it would fit. We tried it on again the last few days and it still can't be zipped up alot. I'm hoping maybe by this weekend she will seriously take that advice and try to do so. Otherwise I don't know what to tell my cousin if it doesn't fit. I was told the fabric cannot be let out. Any suggestions?

Re: Dress Fitting Problem
ummm...take all the food out of her house?
Seriously..can the shop maybe order some extra material so they can add a panel to her dress so it will fit? Or add a corset to the back?

Re: Dress Fitting Problem
If she or any of the other girls have the material left over from their hem, maybe they can take that material and insert into the side seams this way it'll give her at least an inch or so for both side... not all the way down, just from the top of the dress to her waist. They should be able to do that - if she (or the other BMs) still have left over material... it'll probably cost her tho. HTH

Plus, you wouldn't see the difference in the seams... her arms will cover them.

Re: Dress Fitting Problem
I think they may have to do what was said above like panels to let it out more. Otherwise she might need a new dress because i only know two ways to drop 10lbs in a week and its not very healhty.

Look if she couldn't care enough to lose the weight she may not be in your wedding. A definite possibility.

Re: Dress Fitting Problem
drink lots of water to help clean the system out, maybe?
maybe even take water pill to try and get the any bloating out.
otherwise, she should just watch her food intake and exercise. (but not over exercise to the point where she gets sick)

Re: Dress Fitting Problem
I completely understand what you are going through. FH's cousin is in our wedding party and she put on 20 lbs since her fitting! When the dress came in it didn't fit correctly and this was back in June. They offered to try to let it out a bit but she still hasn't gone. Her appt. was in the beginning of July.
Hopefully she can lose a few more pounds. I would just try to eat light and drink water. Eat lots of salad with grilled chicken.

Re: Dress Fitting Problem
Put tape over her mouth I wish her good luck ~ she can do it if she drinks lots of water and eat salads... and do not eat past 7-8pm & excerises Cardio 30-40 min a day
actually i have a BM that wanted to order a smaller size when it was time to ordering the dresses and the bridal store told her not to do that just in case... well thank got she did not because the size she ordered fit ~ (alittle snuggly 2) so if she would have ordered the smaller size she would not have fit into it

Re: Dress Fitting Problem
That is an uncomfortable situation! I would go to a good tailor with her. They can come up with interesting solutions. FM me if you want the information for a tailor I use who is very reasonable.

Re: Dress Fitting Problem
I'm not sure if she didn't try to lose weight or if she just couldn't loose it.
I will play devils advocate, no women ever wants to be told she can't fit into a dress or wants a dress that looks like a quilt with all different fabrics so she can fit.
Did they maybe order the wrong size? if not, I would suggest a corset.
