Dress Help!

Dress Help!

I had my first fitting a couple of weeks ago and I still love the dress, but ran into some issues.

The dress is a strapless A-line and has a corset back, so there is already boning in it. In general, I loved the way the dress looked, but it didn't lay smooth - pulled a bit - above my hips/just below my waist. They told me that this was exactly where the boning ended so I needed to get a longline corset to wear underneath in order to smooth it out. Except later when they itemized the alterations they said, 'oh, so you don't need us to extend the boning anymore since you're getting the corset, right?.' I didn't know extending the boning was an option!

The dress was also not sitting where I wanted it to - it started out great (none of the dreaded flab hanging over the top!!), but then it would fall. It wasn't moving extremely far, but far enough so that it was no longer flattering at the top. They told me that my only option was to get the corset and velcro the dress to it.

It just seems kind of extreme to me to have to wear two corsets!! I was already having trouble getting a full breath with just the one. The dress is pretty heavy/hot as it is and I'm getting married in June. I'm not too excited about the prospect of adding another layer. I know just about nothing about dresses and altering dresses, but it seems to me that there must be another way to get the dress to stay in place. Isn't that what alterations are for?

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Is anyone else wearing two corsets? I would SO appreciate any thoughts or advice you might have.

TIA!!!
