Dress help??

Dress help??

I went dress shopping (in tampa) with FMIL and FSIL. We think we've narrowed it down to two dresses: Maggie's Natasha, and Casablanca's 1827. I want my mom's opinion before I decide.

I've been calling their retailers all night and can't find a single salon that carries both (or even a salon that carries Natasha for that matter)

Has anybody tried on these dresses? Can you tell me where to find both- or either????

erghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Sometimes a store can 'borrow' a dress from a designer (for a fee). They send the dress for a week for you to see. Sometimes they apply the price of the borrow to the price of the gown if you buy it (not everybody does this).

I am a casablanca 1827 bride! It's so funny because I was between Maggie's Beatrice and Casa 1827. I got mine at Helen's in Commack. I do not know for sure about that Maggie specifically but I do know Helen's has both brands because I tried Beatrice there!

Which are you leaning toward? I may have ended up in Beatrice if the beading under the arms weren't so painful! Plus 1827 is so light and easy to wear. Let us know which you pick!

woooooooo!!! there's hope for me! helen's is actually the only salon i haven't talked to yet (they're closed on Mondays)

I was originally leaning towards Natasha, but after trying 1827 I think I want to buy that and add on a belt to look like the Natasha.
1. 1827 is literally HALF the price
2. the belt on Natasha photographs beautifully, but imo looks sort of cheap in person.

my mom likes the natasha better in pics, but of course i need her to see both in person.

congrats on the 1827!!! it really is stunning!

It's SO funny you're mentioning all this stuff! I LOVED the way the beatrice photographed. I cried when I saw the comparison in pics because I wanted sparkle and maggie's dresses definitely have that more in pics. BUT, when zoomed in on the beading on the maggie gown, it really looked tacky! From afar it looked like a glittery gorgeous dress, but the close-ups looked like an arts and crafts project (and I guess in person too). My family's general consensus was that the casablanca looked more fine and delicate, and therefore more expensive (despite being half the price-- which was a HUGE BONUS! It's 800 at Helens... after all is said and done it's a bit over 1k but not much. Also, Helen's offers $100 off a dress or a free veil!)

I had found a few pics of a girl who added a belt to the casa... I will post them when I figure out where I found them!!!

Thank you for the pics!!

My FMIL and FSIL said the same thing about the casa looking more expensive.. i just know my mom won't believe that until she sees it for herself.

and i have a feeling she won't be satisfied until she holds them against eachother.

It's kinda a tough decision though to figure out if it's more important for the dress to be prettier in person on the one day, or prettier in pictures for eternity. lol. but the price difference helps, ALOT!

Re: Dress help??

NP! I hope they helped a little.

I had the same argument in my head about prettier in pics VS in person. My conclusion was that adding beading to the Casablanca would help it get that sparkle that we love about the Maggie in pics. There's a certain bead on the casa that reflects light really nicely that I'm adding to the bodice on mine. Also, something to bare in mind is that the casa is an older gown, and the samples are older. A ton of the beads fell off the sample that I tried on, so you have to imagine that it will be a little sparklier in general anyway.

Keep me updated! Hopefully Helen's works out for you and you end up with the dress of your dreams, whichever it is!! :)
