Dress Help- jim hjelm

I am in love with two dress by Jim Hjelm. But they seem rather expensive. Can anyone recommend a place to buy a Jim Hjelm dress that is a good deal. Also... can you recommend any other designers that make dresses that look similiar to these two?

I really like the 2nd one...very pretty. You can try calling RK bridal to get a price quote...they seem to have lower prices then most stores.

I just checked RK's site and they do not carry Jim Hjelm. I too saw a Jim Hjelm dress online and fell in love with it but figured it would be way too expensive.

I bought my Jim Hjelm at bridal reflections. It was probably regular retail, but they give a 10% discount.
My dress wound up coming to $2440

Thanks everyone! I saw on the knot they had $$$$ -- which said expensive. I thought they would be under 3k. I really don't feel right paying that much for a dress with the economy doing so bad and trying to save money. (Although I guess it would help it haha) I haven't tried them on yet so I don't even know if they will look good on me. But I am scared to try it on and fall in love.

Sorry to bump this up but I am really clueless about designers. Can anyone suggest a designer that has similiar styles that are more affordable? Thanks again!!

Ok - I'm a little confused and I was going to post a forum about this but...
James Clifford Hjelm does he also go by the name of Jim Hjelm? because one of the 2 dresses I am trying to decide is INSANELY similiar to this pic you posted... but it's from James Clifford JHO collection and Jim Hjelm's name is listed on it.
In either case... this dress reminds me of the ones from James Clifford. And I think they might be the same person or perhaps they collaborated and created a collection together. I'm confused. Does anyone know anything about this?
The James Clifford dresses I saw were in the realm of about 2000 to 2800 (I only priced like 2 dresses so the range is most likely much larger).

I would try Pronovias. See if you like any styles on www.ponovias.com The Pronovias line is less expensive than the Manuel Mota or Elie Saab lines they also sell.

Most dresses are in the high thousands BUT you pay 1/3 of the price at 'purchase', 1/3 at your first fitting and the last 1/3 when you pick it up.
Treat yourself to the experience at least. The Flagship store is on 52nd between Madison and 5th.

I googled James Clifford and it said that he worked with Jim Hjelm. So maybe thats why the styles are so similar??

Re: Dress Help- jim hjelm

I tried one on on Saturday at Bridal Reflections that was $4600!!!!!!! I almost died and went to dress heaven. So i'm altering my Marisa (I think) to make it look like that one...haha

I also tried one at Kleinfelds that was 3100. Sooo why not go there, try on the ones you want (call first and make sure they have them) and then stalk ebay and preowned wedding dresses.com for it....sometimes alot of the dresses on there are NEW and without tags, or the bride changed their mind, etc...

GL!

jim hjelm started the jim hjelm line after leaving a long career at priscilla of boston. then he sold the jim hjelm line--no longer designs those dresses--and started a new line with his first and middle names, james clifford.

My dress is jim hjelm and I searched and called so many places and everyone gave me the same price. My best advice is haggle with the store. You can probably get it for at least 20% off. Thats what i did with mine! Hope that helps

They are both amazing dresses!
