Dress is in.. But there is an issue

I got the call that my dress was in last week! I had pnemonia so I was excited, but not to the point where I could do anything about it. I then get another call from someone within the salon asking for me to call them directly, and that no one would know what this was about. I called her three times never got her, and she never called me back. I finally said screw it, and called them and told them the story. The reason why she was trying to get a hold of me was because their storage facility was sold. They don't have a place to store all the dresses. They brought them all back to the store, and now they are overloaded. They ares sending out letters to all the brides asking them to come pick up the dresses until alterations are going to be done, then they will have room to store it.

Now, where the heck am I going to put my dress for 6 months?? Any suggestions?

in a family members house?
maid of honors house?
in your own closet?

That's annoying but I'm sure there's some place safe for it. Since I ordered mine through netbride, I'll need to store mine myself for a few months too. I'll probably keep it in my mom's guest room since there isn't an inch of space in my closets at my apartment.

I've had my dress in our closet for months now. It's in a bag so FH can't see it and he doesn't want to see it anyone until the day. (I've tried showing him )

how about a parent's house or bridal party members house, as previously suggested? It should be fine.

I actually LIKED that I have mine... I want to make sure it is here SAFE with me! For awhile before we moved, I did'nt hvae room, so I stored it at my Grandfathers house (in a spare bedroom), NOW it is right in my room with me, behind our armwar (sp?), which is cadicornered in the room, so it hands on a hook that was in the ceeling (just perfect!) from the old owners, and it's hidden in the bad!

FH is the one who DOESN't want to see it, so I know he won't peek! (I WANTED to show him... ha ha)..

but i'm sure you can store it at a family members and it will be FINE!

I picked mine up immediately after it came in. I'm holding onto it and bringing it back and forth for alterations. I just don't trust anyone else with it.

Good thing too. I almost ordered my dress from Kay-
Anne's and they went bankrupt last week

My dress is hanging, wrapped in a sheet, hanging from my sister's closet door I don't have any place else to put mine.

Yup--I got the same letter on Saturday.......I was freakin' out.

I will be there this week, I want to get my dress outta there ASAP since their 'conditions' are poor!

I have a cedar chest--I guess that is my safest bet.

Yeah I guess its not the end of the world. I have a few closet choices, I just don't want it in a house with any pets.. I'm glad to get it out of there. I don't need to get a letter saying they are going out of business!! I have a feeling that is their next step.

You should inquire how to store it. A friend bought her dress 'off the rack' a year or so ago (she's now married). She was told to lay the dress down on a flat surface. Hanging could cause the dress to stretch.

Consider this a blessing....I have heard such horror stories about fires and places going out of business, etc. Bring the dress home with you as soon as possible and make sure it's safe. I just got the pc in the mail that my dress is in and I can assure you the minute I give the money, the dress is coming home with me!

Thanks Ladies. I have two options. hanging it on the back of my bedroom door or laying it in a large closet in my living room. I have a lot of cleaning up to do, but I guess it will be alright. I'm going to ask them when I go if I should hang it or lay it down and see what they say! Thanks again!

For the past month mine has been hanging on a hook on my bedroom door in a garment bag. My dress is from David's (Madhouse) Bridal and I feel much better having it with me!

I kept mine at my friends house for 6 months too. Just make sure there are no pets, no smoking and nothing to smelly around it.
