i had my second fitting tonight and I still feel like my dress makes me look top heavy - I think it comes up too high under my armpits. did anyone else have this problem or any ideas how to fix it? the woman at the Bridal Salon seemed to say that this was the best they could do and it wasn't bad. She said everyone gets the armpit fat but i'm sure that there is a way to fix that. ugh!

Re: dress problem
It might be too tight on top if it is giving you the always dreaded armpit fat. See if they can make it a little looser on the top, but tighter through the bodice so it holds the dress up.

Re: dress problem
Can they let it out a little on the top and put a band inside the dress to hold it up. They did this with mine. They put a a spandex band inside, under my chest. It went from one side to the other and connected in the back.

Re: dress problem
its not too tight, if anything there was too much space between the dress and my chest - it was the fact that i have a short torso and the bodice of the dress is coming up too high under my arms which is pushing everything up. the reason i'm so annoyed is because i brought this up as a concern about the dress before i bought it and the saleswoman assured me their 'genius' seamstress would make it fit perfectly.

I have the same short torso problem. If there's detailing around the top, they might not be able to do anything without losing it. If you're willing to lose some, maybe they can turn it under or cut down.

I asked about that, they didn't seem willing to do it. did you cut around the top?

I think she might have turned the top seam inside and sewn it down a little. You can fold it in on itself, though you may have to cut the boning (and perhaps that's the seamstress' objection). I know I had to have her make the armhole bigger because I couldn't pull the dress down without throwing off the waist and hips.
Absolutely make them fix it though, or you'll end up with boning poking you in the armpit in addition to underwire poking you in the ribs.
I don't understand why designers don't realize that a size X in a petite length doesn't have the same torso length as a size X in a tall. They think we all have the same torso as the dress form. It's nuts.
