Dress Question and buying out of state

Ok I have a question I guess for both local and out of state brides.

Ok did anyone buy their dress out of NY - (NOT ONLINE)

If you did - did you find that the prices were better for the same dress outside of NY than what you would pay for it here.

I am going to Saks on the 31st and say if I find a dress I like is it cheaper to get it in say Texas and have it sent to the Store in NY or NJ?

For those girls who got their dress at Macy's did you call any of the stores out of state to see if the dress was cheaper or did you just buy it?

I didn't buy my dress out of state but I shopped alot in NJ (where I'm living now). I think prices are similar but a little cheaper outside NY. I am sure they would be cheaper even further away from NY but Saks might have set prices of dresses. You can try bargaining- I was able to bring my dress price down by telling them another store had it for cheaper.

I bought my dress at BridesMart in Dallas, TX (it's a chain and like David's Bridal except they sell all brands, not just David's), it cost $400 and they shipped it for $75. I got it in less than a month and was so happy with the whole experience that I wouldn't have done it any other way.

You should def. compare prices. A girl on another board in NY bought her dress from Saks in Ohio I believe cheaper than in NYC. She's getting married in Vegas & Saks is shipping her dress there. She didhave her fitting in Ohio (family there) but I'm pretty sure she saved $, I'll try to find out & get back to you, but so far she's having a great experience.

I didn't look in Saks for my dress, but I did go to dress shops/outlets in NJ, PA & MA looking for dresses & had I found 'the one' cheap outside of NY, I would've went for it.

I am living in MA and the cost of dresses seems cheaper in small salons but about the same in bigger more well known places. I would say search as much as you can outside of NY I am sure you'll find something cheaper. Good luck!

I had the same question! I'll be in Texas next week so I am definetly going to check out the bridal salons there!

Christine: I went to the Macy's in Manhasset and found I dress that I really liked (the $4500 one). When I called the Macys in New Jersey (there are 2) the dress was cheaper and they seemed more willing to negotiate the price with me.
If you want to buy the dress in a NY Macy's you can have it shipped to a New Jersey address (to avoid the tax), pay like a $30 shipping fee, pick up the dress from NJ and bring it back to the NY Macy's and they'll alter it in NY for you.
