Dress question - can seamstresses work magic?

I found a gorgeous dress that I love at a great price -- but it would definitely need alterations -- the bodice currently kind of sticks out on me, and it would need to be shortened a lot -- possibly interfering with embroidery at the bottom. also, the store only had a too-small size for me to try on, so it's hard for me to know exactly how i would look in out. should i do it? would love some advice! thanks!

I would honestly try and find it at another store that maybe has it in your size. The one piece of advice that someone gave me and I took was 'the less you have to do to a dress, the better' I would be really hesitant to do it if you couldn't tell what it looked like on. I dunno just my thoughts.... gl

Just keep in mind that you are going to pay cash money for *magic*......you will be A-MAZED at the premium for extensive quality work. My bridal salon charged a base flat rate of 650 and I had minimal work done! Detailed work can exceed 1K and beyond!

i like the idea of seeing if its at another store - that way you dont have to play the guessing game w/ money too

Thanks everyone. I'm leaning against doing it now.
