Dress question - What would you do?

Original post by MikesBride2B

I'm sorry if this comes out a little convoluted, I'm trying to explain it the best I can.

I'll start by saying I have a lot of shoe issues...I have bad knees and flat feet and I really want to feel comfortable on my wedding day, so my shoes are isotoners and have 1.5' wedge heels. The dress that I chose can only be ordered up to 3' shorter than the sample size. My problem is with the shoes that I chose I would need the dress to be 4.5' shorter. According to my salon (Lillette's) I have 2 options:

1) They can order the petite size (which is the 3' shorter) and then the alterations dept can hem my dress to the size that I need. My only issue with this is that my dress has a lace overlay, and I'm really worried that it'll get messed up. They did have the head of alterations come up to look at my dress and she said it would be no problem and seemed very sure that they would do a good job. The cost of the hem would go up from $125 to $200 (but cost is not really an issue)

2) I can buy 3' heels and deal with my discomfort, but know for sure the dress would not get messed up.

I am leaning towards option 1, if only because I really want to be comfortable on that day...but I am still worried. What would you do if you were me?

I have the same issues... in fact, I can barely walk in shoes...

I am letting Lillette's hem my dress...my wedding is going to be a 12 hour affair.... no way am I going to be uncomfortable for that long ON. MY. WEDDING DAY.

You know your body and your comfort level, so I would go with option 1 so you don't have to be concerned about your feet hurting on your wedding day.

I would chose option 1. You need to be comfortable on your wedding day. I would say let her hem it. If she is confident than you should trust them. Also, Maybe start the alterations a little early to make sure its exactly what you want. Im positive they willdo a good job.
