Re: Dress rant
why dont you check out sites with wedding gowns such as the knot. That site allows you to pick exactly what type you are looking for, and searches for you. It might give you an idea. Then if you do find something you like, you can check the designer and see what strores in NY seell it..IDK...HTH

Re: Dress rant
david's bridal dresses lets you add straps. and i'm sure a seamstress can add straps to your gown if you ask. let me think, mon cheri has optional straps for a lot of their dresses. i think alvina valenta and jim hjelm also has a lot of different styled dresses. ask a sales person if they can recommend some designers that sell a variety of dresses that aren't strapless.

Yeah, I'm not a fan either. I have no boobs to hold it up, I need straps!

Re: Dress rant
i 2nd the davids bridal thing. I got my gown there (Oleg Cassini) and i've had no problems with them. My gown is strapless, but they do have options to add to your gown. I think it's genius really lol. You can probably do it to any gown so long as you have some extra material.

Re: Dress rant
hi :) i actually had the same fear and because of it, i was convinced i wouldn't find a dress! but, both places i went to try on dresses gave me selections with straps, cap sleeves or halter. i think i only tried on two strapless dresses. definitely try on some halters, they look great on a lot of body types i think! also, check out maggie sottero gowns....mine is a design of hers and she has a lot of options that aren't strapless.
good luck! you will find something! :)

Re: Dress rant
i know the majority of gowns out there are strapless, but i must admit that i saw a lot of non-strapless gowns during a recent trip to RK Bridal in the city. Or even check out their website, they have tons of pictures..and I believe they have more gowns at the store than online too~

Re: Dress rant
Actually - i think Jasmine can make any neckline you want...if it doesn't have straps - they can do it... I read that somewhere and a few places told me the same thing...so if you fall in love with a strapless dress - they'll change it for you...

Re: Dress rant
Kelly, you can add straps to basically any gown out there. We'll figure this out, don't worry.
Macy's in Smithtown is having a trunk show the second weekend of October. I was told that a lot of the new demetrios gowns are going to be under $1000 plus you get a 15% discount. I made an appointment just in case I don't find anything by then. Make one around the same time! The lady said it's plenty of time because Macy's IS Demetrios so they can get things rushed with a lower fee than most other places. She also said if there's a gown I love but don't like something about it, they can usually have it changed.
Trust me, I feel your pain on this one.

Re: Dress rant
my other post they all ran into each other, HTH and works, lol
I also did not want a strapless dress. I went to Adriennes in Islip, and I found a lot of dresses that did have straps. My dress has straps, but in my pictures i am wearing it strapless. The straps were uncomfortable, but I think when the dress is my size I will wear it with straps, and hopefully they won't be so uncomfortable. I do know what you are saying though...I felt the same way!!
Also...check out the Jasmine Collection....there a few dresses with straps. And, there were a lot of dresses that I tried on that they said they could ad a halter or straps....
