Dress Regret HELP!

I bought a dress and paid the deposit but have now changed my mind. I know I can't get my deposit back (I paid for half of the dress) but if I just leave the dress with them, is that it? The contract says that even if the dress is canceled it has to be paid in full prior to the wedding date. How can they charge me the rest if I never pick up the dress? Any advice, information, or ideas? Thank you ladies!

Dress Regret HELP!

your not alone! i'm having the same issue with my photographer!!!

as for the dress- usually you do have to pay in full even if you don't plan to use it. you can always pay and then sell it

Re: Dress Regret HELP!

I think that the only way they will be able to force you to pay the outstanding balance is if you got your bridal party or mother's dress through them. They might hold the other dresses until the wedding dress is paid for.

I didn't get any other dresses there so really I don't ever have to go back lol. I paid with my credit card for the $1100 deposit but I doubt they would have the number on file. Could they send a bill like that to collections or am I over thinking this? I thought the point of a deposit was that if you change your mind, you just lose your deposit! Ahh I am stressing over this! I can deal with losing the deposit- just don't want to lose anymore!

FH thinks I should pay in full and then sell it but the balance is about $1200 and what if I can't even get that (or anything!) for it trying to sell it! If I have to pay it out, I will probably just wear it...

They can not charge your credit card for a second payment. If they do, open a dispute through your credit card company. If you feel uncomfortable, tell the credit card company you lost your credit card and they will issue another one. A charge will not go through for a cancelled card.

I would doubt it. The dress I originally ordered, I called and canceled the next day (yes, I'm indecisive lol) - before they even placed the order and just wanted to use my deposit towards something else and they gave me a really hard time about that even though they hadn't placed the order yet! Ughh, clearly I have bridal salon regret too.

Hmm, that sucks, what salon is this? I would try tlkn to them to put the deposit towards another dress. Make a bit of a fuss if u need to. $1100 is a lot to lose.

Dress Regret HELP!

My cousin had a similar issue. She found another dress that she loved at the same place where she put her deposit down, and they transferred the deposit onto the new dress so she didn't end up losing any money, I would ask them about that.

Was her dress already ordered? What did the salon do with the original dress? I feel like i will still be held accountable for the original. They even wrote on the contract no switching of dresses! Just hand wrote it in.

Dress Regret HELP!

I would call the dress store and explain the situation....they might take the deposit and put it towards another dress, but you will never know unless you call :)

Dress Regret HELP!

I would go to the salon in person ASAP instead of calling. An upset, crying, angry bride seems to get people to change their policies. If they didn't order they dress yet when you called, it makes NO sense that they couldn't just hold your deposit for a new dress.

Dress Regret HELP!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I know they ordered it because I placed the order almost two months ago and it needs to be in before my June wedding, plus it has since been discontinued by the designed. Since it was discontinued, they can't use it as a sample but I'm sure they could still sell it as a canceled order. I live on the west coast so can't go in person but should probably put my big girl panties on and call them up. I had such a miserable experience with this store to begin with so I've been sticking my head in the sand. They are a reputable salon and it just baffles me how they get such good reviews.
