I went looking at gowns yesterday, and I LOVED one. The issue is that it's a discontinued style. I tried on the sample and it was a bit snug but it zipped and the seamstress there said that they could make it work if they let out ALL the seems but that would cost a fortune to do. If I bought the sample and waited a few months and tried it on again after losing some weight, and they didnt have to open all the seams the alterations would be capped at $295.
I decided it seemed worth it, so I called my Mom and had her meet me at the shop to see the gown. She said it was a gorgeous gown, but also said i looked fat. She does this with every gown I've loved so far. I tried explaining to her, that I am NOT a small girl, and white does not help in the slimming department. I'm not going to look small in any big white gown i put on, but I didnt feel huge in this gown.
I loved it, but didnt love how she made me feel in it... so I didnt get it. I spent a good portion of last night moping because of this... and I had wedding nightmares because of it.
I don't know what to do. The shop isnt open again till Tuesday.... I don't even know the style number.
___________________ UPDATE!! So Ashley from the shop just called me!! She told me the style number, and said not to worry she doesnt think it'll get sold. It's not an ugly dress or anything, its just not a popular style. If any of you could try to find pictures of this gown for me, i'll be your best friend! Impressions Style # 2716
thanks so much!!

in all honesty, i was looking through your album and i LOVE the last dress in your album. (I think you added colored bows to it) But it was a white lacey looking gown sort of similar to jessica simpsons. I think it was the most flattering on you. It pulled in your waist and really defined your figure.
FYI--i'd bring someone who isn't such a downer with you in the future. Who is your MOH??? I would NOT buy a gown that is too small bc the truth is, we would all mostly like to do this or that (lose weight, gain weight (??) work out arms, tone our backs...blah blah) but you never know what lies ahead for you and you don't need the extra pressure now. Go with something YOU love. HTH

Re: Dress related Vent
I LOVE the dress, it's so beautiful and different . I'm sorry your mom had to poo all over your feelings...I know how that is
Before I realized that other people had found pictures of your gown I was googling for the dress and it came up on alot of bridal sites as on clearance (since like you said, it is discontinued). I don't know if you would consider it but maybe ordering your dress online to get a bigger size so that it wouldn't be a pain in the a$$ to alter and you wouldn't feel pressure to loose any weight that you might not have been planning on losing.
I dunno....just a suggestiong
Good luck hun

Re: Dress related Vent
I am so sorry that your mom and my mom must be twins.. She has had weight issues all of her life..she's a large lady herself...so she pushed all of those weight issues on me. I could lose 50 pounds and she'd still tell me that i'm fat - no matter what i do. She has been pushing me to go on some major diet thing for the wedding.. I do want to lose some weight - but i refuse to look back at my wedding pictures and say - wow - i was thinner then...for the rest of my life - the pics making me say - i wish...
Do what makes YOU happy...that is the end result. Whatever YOU want - whatever dress makes YOU feel amazing...DO IT!!!!

I would definitely order it online. The issue i've found is that most sites only have the size 12 or smaller sample. I am a 38DDD so i need at least a size 16 gown. I'm going to call around tomorrow to see if anyone else has it.

My MOH always seems to be busy. I've been going dress shopping with Kelly (kellybean) and she's been great. But my mom wanted to see the dress before I bought it, and since I'm her only daughter I thought it would be the right thing to do. I also WANT my mom there, she's great, she's just difficult sometimes lol.
The gown isnt really too small... i mean, it is, but like i said, it zips. so if i don't lose the weight, i can always let the gown out and the seamstress said it would definitely be fine. If i lose 10 pounds that's just an added bonus. If i can find it in a larger size, I'd order the bigger size...but it's discontinued so i gotta work with what i got.

I'll share! I've got plenty of D's to go around. You can have a whole one if you want, and someone else can have another. I only need one.

Re: Dress related Vent
You can always call the company and or look at a list of ppl who carry the line and call around and see if they have a sample and if its in a size bigger...That way you dont have to stress...It might cost you to ship it to yourself but at least youd be more comfy!!

Re: Dress related Vent
I don't post much but I just have to put my two cents in on this one. I am a mom and one of my daughters is planning her wedding now. Some of your moms are missing out on one of the best experiences of their life! This makes me sad because I am so thrilled to be shopping with my daughter for her dress. Almost all my life, I struggled with weight issues and I would never bring any of this on my daughter! It doesn't matter what your shape.......you can find dresses to fit and flatter all shapes and sizes. That impressions dress is gorgeous! I wish there was something I could do to get all these moms to stop making excuses and to go shopping with your daughters for a very special purchase and not insult them in the process. My daughter has found her beautiful dress but I wish we could keep shopping for it because we have so so much fun doing it. I am looking forward to helping her with other decisions for her special day! Moms......wake up!!!! you are missing out!
