I went looking at gowns yesterday, and I LOVED one. The issue is that it's a discontinued style. I tried on the sample and it was a bit snug but it zipped and the seamstress there said that they could make it work if they let out ALL the seems but that would cost a fortune to do. If I bought the sample and waited a few months and tried it on again after losing some weight, and they didnt have to open all the seams the alterations would be capped at $295.
I decided it seemed worth it, so I called my Mom and had her meet me at the shop to see the gown. She said it was a gorgeous gown, but also said i looked fat. She does this with every gown I've loved so far. I tried explaining to her, that I am NOT a small girl, and white does not help in the slimming department. I'm not going to look small in any big white gown i put on, but I didnt feel huge in this gown.
I loved it, but didnt love how she made me feel in it... so I didnt get it. I spent a good portion of last night moping because of this... and I had wedding nightmares because of it.
I don't know what to do. The shop isnt open again till Tuesday.... I don't even know the style number.
___________________ UPDATE!! So Ashley from the shop just called me!! She told me the style number, and said not to worry she doesnt think it'll get sold. It's not an ugly dress or anything, its just not a popular style. If any of you could try to find pictures of this gown for me, i'll be your best friend! Impressions Style # 2716

aw im so sorry to hear this and I'm sorry to hear your mother wasn't supportive...do you have any pics of the dress? im sure you look great! and maybe they can make it into a corset back? thats what they usually do when something is snug...and it looks great!

making it into a corset back was what i really wanted them to do because i love the corset backs and always wanted one, but the seamstress didnt seem to care what i wanted. that's another issue i had with the shop... no one there listened to what I wanted.
If I buy the gown, i think i'd have it altered elsewhere.

mothers love to rain on everyone's parade. If you really love this dress and you have tried on others and since it is a sample the price should be cheaper then a ordered dress so your saving on that and putting it to alterations then go for it. Don't let your mom rain on your parade. It will also make you drop the weight.. if that is all you need is 10 lbs you can deff. dot hat with the time you have. All you have to do is cut out beer or soda and you can drop that .. it is what happened for me.

thanks! yup, ten pounds is totally doable. I want to lose more than that anyway, but if i HAVE to lose it i know i WILL lose it, if that makes sense. Thanks for reinforcing that it's doable. and the soda thing works wonders. especially at 135 calories a can!
it's the margarittas i'd have a hard time saying goodbye to

aww!! dont listen to what ur mom said! if u loved the dress then u should get it! you dont want to regret not getting it bc of her...if u likedf how it looked on u thats all that matters!!!!

Aww- Im sorry your mom upset you. Mom's can be brutal sometimes.
The important thing is that YOU loved the dress. Eventhough your Mom didn't like it, you know we are our own worst critics. So, if YOU didnt feel fat in it, then it probably looks great.
I know you were having a hard time finding THE dress, so if you loved this one, then you should get it. If all you have to lose is 10 lbs, it is totally doable by March. Just kowing the dress is snug will be motivation enough.
It may not be what your mom pictured you in, but so what- it is your wedding and you need to feel great in your dress that day.

I also had a similar situation.
I fell in love with a dress, and my friends and sister agreed it was the 'one'. I took my mom to see it the next morning, and she didn't like it. I continued to try on other dresses, and she ended up putting a deposit down on a dress she liked. I didn't know what to do, and the lady helping me told me that if I change my mind she won't order it until I tell her to. The whole weekend I was torn up about making my mom happy, and going with the dress I wanted. I went in on monday with my best friend, and as soon as I tried on the dress I thought was the one, I knew. I changed the order on the spot.
My mom also has had issues with my weight over the years. I the the 'biggest' one in my family by far. But....this is your wedding, and you are the one that will be wearing the dress that day, not her! You look great! Order the dress you liked!!

I am sorry your mother is being like that..maybe dont take her? I didnt take my mom because she had a picture in her head what she wanted me to wear..and it def wasnt my picture

Its a beautiful dress. I really like it. I am sorry your mother is doing this to you. I would have a talk with her and tell her how you feel. Its not right that she says those things to you. I do really like the dress though.

Im sorry that your mom made you feel bad. If you love it and you know you can lose some weight then do it. You will not be happy with any other dress.

Dont worry, just order it and she will have to deal with it. Also, once it fits and its not snugg or anything, and you have the veil and your hair done and all- she will just melt b/c she will realize he rdaughter is getting married and looks like a beautiful bride!

dont let anyone make you feel silly or bad. Its hard enought to make a decision. If you feel in your hear t that that is YOUR dress that it is THE ONE!! then get it.
