dress search frustrations

ok so i've tried on a lot of dresses at 3 different salons (fantasias, centereach, david's)...i found 1 i really like---i think its beautiful

http://www.bridesave.com/search/index.cfm?action=details&product_id=15106

i can see myself wearing it on our day (i would have white with white and blush accents). i tried it on for my mom and fmil and they both hated it. my fmil says it looks like underwear (but she doesn't care for strapless to begin with). its a couture type design, so its a little different looking. i guess its a ya love it or ya hate it type dress. i guess i shouldn't let what others think of the dress affect my feelings on it, but that's easier said than done. also, i do love the dress, but do you really know when its 'the one'? i can't imagine myself getting worked up over the dress or crying or anything, but is this what is supposed to happen? i am so confused. i have an appt at macys for tomorrow to check some others out just to make sure i am making the right decision with the maggie. can anyone relate? thanks for reading my little vent. ~lacey

Re: dress search frustrations

try to cheer up, the dress search supposedly is one of the funnest part of the whole planning process!

honestly, i didn't have 'the one' feeling that everyone is talking about. i tried MANY dresses on, at least 50 or 60. there were some really beautiful dresses, but i never felt like 'OMG! THIS IS THE ONE!' i bought my dress because it offers the best combination in terms of style, price and quality.

i think you have to at least feel comfortable in the dress. you will look beautiful no matter what on your special day. but if your mom or fmil's comments would affect how you feel, maybe just look a bit more before making your final decision.

good luck!!!

that makes me feel a lot better! i have tried on a lot and i have liked most of them on me (which is wierd, bc i am so picky). i love this one in particular bc is different and romantic looking and the price is right! i will try on some more and see if i keep comparing it to the ones i try on. i'll see how i feel when i try it on again this saturday when i go bm dress shopping with the girls. thanks~lacey

I almost considered the red dress on the link you have. But my FH said it looked too disnay and he is right about that. LOL
Go for what you want! Don't let your mom, or anyone try to change what you want on YOUR DAY! They are both lovely dresses. Go with what makes you happy!

I totally relate! I tried on about 30 dresses and didn't think I'd get that 'this is the one feeling' then I saw a dress on a hanger that I was going to try on and knew it. Once it was on I got that feeling. You might not have gotten it yet...try on a couple more then go back to this one and see how you feel. If you feel that it is the one than go for it. It's a beautiful dress and certainly doesn't look like underwear! Although it might be hard to get a dress your mom and fmil do not love, you're the one that's going to wear it. You have to love it, not them!
