Dress shopping

Hi everyone and thanks for chatting. I was so excited about my ONLY daughter's wedding on April 12, 2003, that when they got engaged in January, I started looking for a dress! I can tell you I think about everyplace in Nassau county...north and south shore. I bought my dress last Friday at Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook. I cannot tell you how welcoming and friendly the place is. They don't have the biggest collection I have seen, but they had the one. I will have my daughter help me post a picture maybe tonight. It is an Obsessions Couture. Yippee.

That's fabulous!! My mom and I went dress shopping right after I got engaged!! It was soo exciting! I got my dress two weeks later and we picked my mom's dress out too!! It was soo much fun for her.. I'm the first one out of 2 to go and it's very emotional for her.. we were weeping through the very first try-on!! it's a very special time, I'll never forget it.

Thanks, it sounds like you really like it. Yes I am wearing silver. the lace part actually has some pink in it. I thought it would go good with Sasha;s J. Helme gown which has silver embroidery and the bridesmaids which are wearing garnet red taffeta. It is an obsessions couture. I got in in Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook. It was on sale. 10% off if you paid in full. PS it was also $250 cheaper there than Flowerama in Elmont and $350 cheaper than Elegant Bride in Roslyn. It comes in only a few colors: Champagne, silver, black (beautiful), oyster and white.

They are beautiful. I love that deep garnet color. Are you getting them in the same color? What color is your Mom wearing or thinking of? What color flowers. Sasha96 is looking for something in the same color. I have to show her these. Who is the designer? The hair looks like the greek mythological character Medusla (Spelling?) Now who in their right mind would go out looking like that. I look better in the morning LOL.

The dresses are by DESSY in Bordeax. These are the flowers she would like to get. Someone posted these to give us an idea. The colors are great together and the fabric around the stem really pulls it all together. We are hoping the florist can match it well. The pic is below

Jen, they have it in a couple of places in Nassau County, Flowerama, Elegant Bride and the least expensive place is Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook on Merrick Rd. The people in BB are so nice. Tell your Mom they have it there in black and that Audrey sent you.(the lady who kept on visiting her gown) Ask if you can still get the special, if you pay for it in full, they take 10% off. PS. Alterations are capped at $75

AprilMIL, I also went with my mom to Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook and my mom fell in love with this dress in black. Its absolutely beautiful!

After asking around for different prices (my mom felt the price Beautiful Bride was charging was a bit more than she wanted to spend) we found the dress to be $270 cheaper than what they were charging from gownsales.com. Did you order the dress already? If any other moms are interested in the dress they should check out gown sales. The style # of the dress is #474 (I called Obsessions to get the style #).

Also, where did you find a picture of the dress? I could not find one anywhere. Thanks!

Good for you. Yes I ordered through BB. The picture is on the obsessions couture.com site. Under Spring 2002. Glad your Mom got it also.
