DRESS SHOPPING ANXIETY-long post

Well..what a weekend!!!
I started my search for the perfect dress this weekend. Saturday I went to Demetrio's @ Macys at Smithaven Mall and fell in love with 3 gowns -- one more then the other two. Obviously I wouldn't make a decision based off of only going to one bridal salon -- and I was only with my mom - not my FMIL or my MOH - so I had them write the numbers down and told them I would be back. They were so helpful; it wasn't busy - they were attentive and did not rush me.
Today I made an appt at Paradise Bridal - again another great experience -- although I had anxiety at first because:
1. there were a ton of other brides there
2. not enough rooms and I had to wait to get in front of the mirror (ok, i get it - they were busy - it was a weekend)
-- the consultant worked her *** off, too. she was so sweet..i felt bad at first because i think I was a little bitchy #bridezilla??? I know they want to make a sale at the end of all of that hard work, but I wasn't ready.

ok, so i tried on A TON of dresses at Paradise- they have so many designers to pick from...but I felt like they wanted me to make a decision right then and there. Even my mom was quick to leave a deposit and have them order one of the dresses i found. I mean, i loved it --- but how do you know when it's 'the one'?

I always have thought I would cry hysterical and have that 'moment' -- so does that mean those dresses weren't 'it'? The one I loved at Demetrio's i had a grin from ear to ear.. and the one at Paradise I thought was beautiful, too.

I still want to look at Bridal Reflections and a few other places. I am afraid I am going to be too indecisive and not make a decision. I am the type of person who has a hard time deciding on where to go to dinner on a Saturday night so how the hell am i going to find my perfect dress?

I don't want to be that bride that tries on 100s of gowns, but I also don't want to rush it and make a decision that I will regret and wished I tried on more gowns. Any advice???? Sorry for the long post - i am sure you girls are going/have gone through this!

xoxo

You have so much time left. I would definitely check out other places before you make your final decision. I tried on almost 50 dresses at 3 different places and I was starting to lose hope. But I found a dress that I absolutely loved. I didn't have that crying hysterical moment at all - I'm just not an emotional person when it comes to things like that. I just knew. I waited for about a month after trying on the dress to order it mainly because I didn't have time to go back. But this gave me the chance to sleep on it and really make sure that it was the one I wanted. I looked at other dresses online in the meantime but I kept going back to this one and that's how I knew.

Good luck. It's definitely an exhausting and nerve wrecking process but you will find it!

I agree that I would definitely check out other places before you make a decision. You don't want to rush into everything. If you liked a few dresses you can always go back and try it on again! You will know when you find the right dress I feel. You may try on all these dresses and then go back and try on the ones before and then realize that this dress was the one you were looking for the whole time.

I feel like your uncertainty is you telling yourself that you are not ready to settle on anything yet.. so don't! I also have dress anxiety which is why I am going to wait till June maybe July to look! You will find the one I promise! Enjoy the experience!

I laughed when you wrote about making decisions on where to eat dinner. It sounds like me to T!

You have SO much time left and there is no reason at all to rush. Heck, I haven't even tried on A dress yet!! I am somewhat avoiding it because I also have anxiety about it!

It seems that deep down you know you likely haven't found the 'one' yet or at least need further confirmation by eliminating other gowns. Keep on looking and don't let anyone pressure you, and make sure to enjoy it

Getting a dress is such a big decision! You definitely need to make sure it's right. Keep shopping and go back to the dress you liked if you need to. I don't think every bride is going to have that 'moment' but you should also just know when it's the one.

I started dress shopping with 1.5yrs until my wedding..it IS so much fun! I am all about dress shopping for fun, no matter how much time you have or not!! Have fun with it, try not to stress over it...you'll know which one is 'your dress.' Just stick to your style, and don't let others sway your decision...and KEEP LOOKING!
