dress shopping in nyc, where to go?

where are good places to go, to look for gowns in the city. we're going to Kleinfelds already. figured while we're in the city might as well check out some other places. where else can we go?

I recommend RK Bridal. Just try to go during the week, it gets very crowded on weekends.

yeah we were gonna go there too. we're going this Saturday. it's hard to go during the week when my maid of honor works everyday till 5, and my grandma just flew in for the weekend.

i think i may suck it up and go to kleinfelds as well. i am also planning on going to rk bridal.

I highly recommend Wedding Atelier! It's a hidden gem! The girls there were so nice. I had a great experience with them.

definitely do not go to RK Bridal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My nightmare of an experience (between the lying, conniving owner of the place, the poor workmanship of the seamstress and pushy salespeople) has left me with no dress three weeks before the wedding! I should also say that I bought a dress - not cheap, almost $2,000 with alteration! - over six months ago, so this is not a story of waiting until the last minute! Let me know if you need more details... I'm determined to not let anyone else have the same experience!

I had good experience there... just a bit pricey there..
or try Macy on 34th St.

Not sure I have anything to add in terms of recomendations, but DONT go to Saks... I had the worst experience there, the people were so rude, and I found out that the dress I wound up getting was over $500 more expensive at Saks than it was at 2 -3 other places, including Kleinfeld!

Adriennes in the city was great. I liked it a lot better than the LI one

Wedding Atelier is such a wonderful place with the loveliest staff around! Can't wait to pick up my dress on Friday!!

Bergdorf's has a crazy sale 2 times a year, they have 2000-8000 dollar dresses for around 500-2000 dollars. Call and ask them for their sale dates.....Also check out Amsale, they have Kenneth Pool there as well

i got mine at adrienne's in nyc...it is a family business ...there is also a location in long island..i dont know wherr though.. i do feel really good about hem though

I love Mark Ingram Bridal Altier. I would have gotten my dress there but I got it at Fontana Bridal instead bc there was a trunk show for my designer.

Yes - Wedding Atelier - they are super nice there!!! but like kleinfeld's, you need an appointment.

I also recommend RK, but I will admit I purchased through the no frills service, basically becuase I heard some questionable alterations reviews.... so I'm not incredibly surprised by the above post....
