I'm probably going to try on dresses next week and I heard that I'm supposed to lie about the wedding date (tell them I'm really getting married a month earlier than my date.) How many of you have done that?

I know what you mean. I am a terrible liar. Where did you order yours from?

How exciting Susan!!!! I didn't lie and it has worked out fine for me.
The place where I got the BM dresses made me lie so that the dresses would be in at least 3 months before the wedding but that was their doing not mine.
Good luck Susan!

I didn't and my dress actually came in 2 months early. If you give your self enough time, you don't need to lie.

Thanks, Lisa. I'm excited to finally really start looking. I'm glad not lying worked for you. Where did you get yours?

Re: Dress shopping question
Depending on where you order, if you order in Jan for Oct, you should be ok...
I ordered in Dec and my dress will be in at the end of March. I went through someone private. Not a big store. Some stores wait months after getting your order to actually place the order. Ask them when the order is placed...
If you feel more comfortable lying. then do it. I just wouldn't want to have the dress lying around (hanging around) my home for a month before the wedding....worry wart...

Re: Dress shopping question
I lied cause it's one more thing I don't want to have to worry about the month of the wedding. They think my wedding is in August. Exactly 1 month before my date. I'll be done with everything and just have it hanging in the closet ready. I'm a freak thou so. I have to have everything done way in advance.

Re: Dress shopping question
I didn't lie - I don't lie well .......and honestly, why bother ? these people are professionals. I got my gown @ Bridal Reflections in Carle Place. They told me the gown could take 10 months or it could take 1 month - I ordered in May of 2004, the gown was in by August. They are storing it for me. My Bridesmaids gowns were in quickly too....(2-3 months maybe) Have a GREAT TIME !!!

I didn't lie.
What happens with your alterations if you lie? I mean I want my last fitting as close to my wedding date as possible.
Also will they make you pick up your dress early? I'm picking mine up right before the wedding. I didn't want to have to hang onto it for a month.
