Any girls here go by themselves?? Did you regret it after wards?
I finally feel 'ready' to dress shop but NEVER have the time!!! I work literally around the block from Pronovias and I'm not too far from a few other desingers (i think i saw Amsale on Madison).
I want to go and start trying dresses on to see what looks good on me; but can't fit the time in on the weekend. I'm thinking about just going during my lunch break one day.
Guess i'm looking for that true bridal experience w/my Girls & my Mom and don't want to feel depresed or anything if i get emotional trying on dresses and there's no one there to share the moment! LOL!!
Maybe i'll have to make an appointment for early one saturday morning before i have to start all my other errands. I can at least get my Mom to come with me to that!
ETA: Can you recommend where to start looking??
I live in Queens; so anywhere in Nassau county (not suffolk) or in the city please.
Thanks!

I waited to make the first appointment. I gathered my mom, MOH and BRidesGayd and figured out when a good dayw oul dbe for all of us, everyone made sure they were free and we went.
Today I made an appointment last minute to go and one of my BM's happens to be free, but if she wasn't I'd go anyway
But I think the first time you go you should set it up with the fam

i agree, maybe go the first time with the fam so everyone can get the experience and then if its hard to make appts in the future, then go by yourself...i kinda want to go by myself too sometimes, but I'm glad I brought everyone the first time around...plus i think it helps to have others opinions

Re: Dress shopping question?
I wouldnt go alone personally because its always nice to have other peoples reactions and opinions Like when I got mine I was there with my mom and Best Friend and they both cried.. That was amazing to me

I was also really overwhelmed at the first appointment because I had no idea what I was doing so I don't know what I Would have done if I was alone,

Re: Dress shopping question?
you can always go by yourself and narrow it down and then bring people with you to help you narrow down the selection. OR you could make an appointment for a few weeks away so you can clear your schedule and those of the people you would like to come with you so that you can make time to go on a weekend

Re: Dress shopping question?
Thanks girls!! That's exactly what i'm thinking-i'll make my 1st appointment and go with my Mom & BM; and then after that i'll do the little quick appointments on my own! I don't even know where to go! I keep hearing things about Lilletes (sp) maybe i'll check there selection; and of course DB to see if i like anything there.

Can you have your mom and some of your friends meet you in the city after work one day?? That way you are still going where you'd like and you get the experience with the girls

Re: Dress shopping question?
I wouldn't go alone either. you do need someone else at least for emotional support and just to share the experience.
in the city there's RK bridal, there's also a place in Forest hills which may work for your mom since you're in queens.

Re: Dress shopping question?
I've personally never went by myself. I had nothing against going by myself but I just never did. It's totally fine if you want to do it. It may even be better for you because then you won't have so many other people's opinions thrown in your face.

I went by myself to look at dresses. When I found the one I really loved I brought my step mother back with me, and thats when I purchased it

Re: Dress shopping question?
I went with my mom and a few friends but my SIL found her dress while shopping along and then took use to see it after. If you feel like you want to go by yourself then do it.
Alexandra on Austin Street in Forest Hills has a nice selection and are very nice

I went with my mom and sister (MOH), who at the time couldn't be bothered lol, and FSIL for the first time. Then I fould 'THE' dress with just my Mom and that was very special <3 but I think it is nice to have the others there
