Dress shopping rant
Okay, let me start off by saying that I went to Kleinfeld and RK Bridal a few weeks ago and got very good service. I highly recommend Audrey at Kleinfelds.
With that being said, today I went to Bridal Reflections in Carle Place. I have read mixed reviews so I was prepared for anything, however, I am absolutely outraged by a few things that occurred today. Let me add that I do not mean to offend any of the ladies that had a good experience at this place.
Let me start off by saying that I am a street size 8. I don't have a perfect body and I some flab in certain areas. But still, I am a size 8.
Well, the woman at BR basically told me from the begining of trying on dresses that I had too much back fat to wear the types of dresses that they sell at this salon. Ladies, we all know that you face the brutal truth about our bodys imperfections when trying on wedding dresses. We all want to loose weight before our wedding and want to look our best. I don't need someone telling me that I have too much flab to shop in their store!!!!
She then introduced me to Ines DiSanto (they were having a trunk show) while I was in my underwear in the dressing room II wasn't in the process of trying anything on and there was nothing I could hide myself with except to literally stand behind the assistent, which is what I did. I made it a point tof saying hat I felt uncomfortable having a conversation with this designer in my undies and the assistent did nothing!!!!
Then, I told the woman that I wanted to spend between a certain range (a generous range) and then told her that I would be willing to go up to $5K if I loved the dress. She, again, kept telling me that the dresses in Massapequa would better suit me. When I pressed her why I would be better suited for the dresses in Massapequa (I live in NYC and didn't want to travel there for no reason), she then said that the dresses in Carle Place were 'couture' (and she said it like I didn't know what the word mean....).
The overall vibe was very snobby and insulting. Basically, what I got out of this whole experience is unless you are a size 4 and are willing to pay over $5K then you are not good enough to shop in this store
