When did everyone start looking for their wedding dresses? I won't be getting married until October '13, but I can't help peeking at so many pictures already!
Plus, shows like 'Say Yes to the Dress' just won't watch themselves!
Did anyone begin looking a year and a half before? Or is it better to wait?

I'm getting married in Oct 2013 also and I don't plan to start making appts until late summer or beginning of fall. So about 12-14 months in advance. I was tempted to go a cpl of months ago to play dress up but I decided to wait. If I bought a dress to early I'd be wondering what else was out there lol

I would start looking to see what you like b/c remember how they look in pictures can look very different on you...but i got my dress already! !

That's what I'm worried about! I don't want to get something I think I love and end up searching for something better...I'd rather just not risk that chance.

Very true! I do have two pictures of dresses I LOVE the styles of on Anthropologie's weddding site, just so I know the two directions I'd like to go in - either long and simple with some kind of sleeve, or short and vintage/funky :)
Glad you got your dress - how many did you have to try on before you knew it was 'the one'?

I bought my dress already and my wedding isn't until Sept of 2013. I fell in love with one and didn't think it would be wise to pass up on it just because it seemed too early. It's deff a good idea to try some on to see what you like but don't get attached if you don't plan on buying of course.

I got mine back in Oct. and my wedding isn't until March 2013. I had originally gone because I fell in love with this one dress but when I tried on I felt like it was just ok but then I tried on my dress and it was perfect. I decided to get it right away which was a good thing since a month later it was on the discontinued list.

I ended up winning mine, so I didn't have much choice of when to pick it out. But if I didn't win it, I would have started looking in about a month or 2 for my April 2013 wedding.

I have already started to look around a little bit. I've been to two bridal places already. I am in the processing of losing weight, so I am going to wait until early summer of this year to really kick my search into gear. I will have it purchased by August - that's the plan and will give the dress marker 8 months.

I think I'd like to lose some weight first, too, so maybe when I lose this 5 pounds of Christmas food I'll start shopping.
There are so many options! I don't think I'll be able to pick just one at first so I guess it will be good to start now

Where did you win it? a bridal showcase? are those contests for real?

It was a bridal expo. it was the Great Bridal Extravaganza. It was fairly small, so there were less of us competing for whatever was being raffled!
