Dress shopping with BM's (Re-post from 09 Board)

Where are you going or have gone with your BM's to look for their dresses? I want a place that has a LARGE variety of dresses. I'll go ANYWHERE in the 5 boro's and long island! even JERSEY! lol

I took my BM to the place I bought my dress, especially since we got a discount there. When I went looking for dresses when I was a BM, we went to the Wedding Center, Wedding World, and David's Bridal. Bridal Reflections also has a big selection. HTH! Good luck!

RK Bridal located on 39th street between 8th and 9th avenue is a good place to go. They have a lot of selection.

Bride's Best Friend in Englewood NJ (just about 10-15 minutes away from Manhattan). They have no tax and a discount for over a certain # of maids. Ends up saving quite a bit. I didn't get mine there but have worn so many dresses from there for other weddings with great results.

Ok, I have a questions, is it wrong that I am not going with my girls? I am picking the dress out and letting them know where they can get the dress. I have had issues with some of them regarding the dress, that they are not wearing certain colors and spending money etc..... Let's just put it this way it's certain people I do not want in my bridal party but I have no choice.

Also certain people feel that they are picking out the flower girl dress on there own and I have no say....

I am picking out the dress and letting them know where they can get it.

Please tell me if I am being to snippy.... Thanks girls.....

You are not being snippy as long as you pick a dress that would compliment all body types. YOu do not want a dress that may not flatter your bm this will cause them to feel uncomfortable. You should differently have a second person just so you can get an idea how it will look on a different body type.

I went to Macy's in Smithhaven Mall, I felt they had a big selection of styles and my girls seemed very happy with the selections there.

I dont think its the best idea for you to do this. Honestly. I had a list of dresses that I LOVED and that I really wanted my girls to wear, I even considered doing what you want to do. But after I brought just a few of them to try some on, they looked HORRIBLE. I have all shapes and sizes in my BP and we had to go through tons of dresses until I found one that flatters everyone and that they'd be comfy in. I really think you should reconsider. Might just cause some issues in the end

Oh and as for the little girl dresses, both my Jr. BMs are OOT, so I had to pick the dress and just get their measurements. But at 11 and 12, theres not much different between them both

My sister is my MOH and will be wearing the same dress so she will be with me with all the dress shopping. My flowergirls will be 3 & 5 by the time I get married. My girls have shown me pictures of dresses and I will be honest even if I was a bridemaid they are not flattering. But I will see how it goes, I will see how much stree they eill cause me. Thanks to eveyone that has will will reply. Everyones opions really help out on here.
