Dress shopping yet again!

Last night i went to Macys bridal in mahasset....

I have only been trying on gowns with pickups, i had my heart set on one.... but ive tried on about 10 so far and none of them did it for me.....

The lady at Macys (Alcira, she was a doll!) got me to try on a strapless ball gown with a HUGE removable train, and i FELL IN LOVE with it.....

Its about 800 dollars out of my budget but it was SOOOOO beautiful and made me feel like Cinderella.... One of my best friends who came with started crying.

Here's a pic.....

Dress

Now that i love this style i also want to try on the Elizabeth by Maggie Sottero.

Elizabeth

Progress ladies.... finally....

I think I tried on that Demetrios dress....it is very beautiful. I loved it but I can't wear a ball gown cause I'm way to short. GOOD LUCK. Demetrios also has a similar dress in a halter that wasn't that expensive if you would consider a different neckline.

no i mean its 800 more then what i wanted to spend! and i already decided to spend a pretty decent amount.....

see one of the reasons i LOVE maggie... is that her dresses are super affordable.....

but in a way.... 800 dollars more, i can def get that eventually.....

You dont have to pay the dress in full at the time u decide on it anyway right? i forgot to ask the lady that...

haha I figured it was $800 more... but I feel like your dress is the one thing you really should splurge on.

Of course it's easy for me to say since I've only been to David's so far.

Ooh I love the first one. You can definitely find Demetrios dresses for less at private bridal salons.

I like the demetrios... I say call around and price it out... you might find it somewhere else cheaper (plus w/ capped alterations) Macys was a nightmare for my sister - see the Macys vs. Private store thread on BHB.

I called around a bit and found that bridal elegance (gownfind.com) gave me the best price, burtons price was still cheaper than macys also and their alt prices are very low, and lillettes wouldnt give me a price...

they are both GORGEOUS dresses! u cant go wrong with either one!

Re: Dress shopping yet again!

at macys you have to pay for 1/2 the dress before they will order it.....so you would have some time to get money saved for the balance

They are both really beautiful!!!!!!!!!

Re: Dress shopping yet again!

they are both gorgeous! My dress is a Maggie.

The standard is you put half down on the dress when you order it. However, I had some pushy salesgirls offering to let me put only $200 down on my dress that they were charging $2200 for (I went somewhere else)

definitely do your research and call around for prices!

and after you try on the maggie and you don't have quite that same feeling as the other one, you can definitely make the extra $800 work... you'd be surprised what you can save money on in your life and not even notice.
