Dress shopping yet again!

Original post by browneyedgrl310

Last night i went to Macys bridal in mahasset....

I have only been trying on gowns with pickups, i had my heart set on one.... but ive tried on about 10 so far and none of them did it for me.....

The lady at Macys (Alcira, she was a doll!) got me to try on a strapless ball gown with a HUGE removable train, and i FELL IN LOVE with it.....

Its about 800 dollars out of my budget but it was SOOOOO beautiful and made me feel like Cinderella.... One of my best friends who came with started crying.

Here's a pic.....

Now that i love this style i also want to try on the Elizabeth by Maggie Sottero.

no i mean its 800 more then what i wanted to spend! and i already decided to spend a pretty decent amount.....

see one of the reasons i LOVE maggie... is that her dresses are super affordable.....

but in a way.... 800 dollars more, i can def get that eventually.....

You dont have to pay the dress in full at the time u decide on it anyway right? i forgot to ask the lady that...

I love them both, but I really love the first gown!!

You can decided one day and then come back later with your deposit which is 50% of the total. Then when your dress is in, i think it depends on the bridal boutique, you pay your balance.

they are both gorgeous! My dress is a Maggie.

The standard is you put half down on the dress when you order it. However, I had some pushy salesgirls offering to let me put only $200 down on my dress that they were charging $2200 for (I went somewhere else)

definitely do your research and call around for prices!

and after you try on the maggie and you don't have quite that same feeling as the other one, you can definitely make the extra $800 work... you'd be surprised what you can save money on in your life and not even notice.

I agree, you can work with it! Girl, I worked and extra chunk of change into the budget for my dress. It surprisingly worked out too!!

Also, don't the bridal people pressure you. If your gown is not off the rack then it has to ordered anyway, so there is no rush to purchase that day. Shoot, for my gown, I tried it on during a weekend only trunk show, and when I came back with my deposit three weeks later, they still gave me the 15% off! They can pretty much do what they want to do!!

So happy you are finally finding something you like!!!

I wish I wasn't so focused on myself while at Macy's and looked around at you and the other girls who were there! I'm sure you looked beautiful.
