Hello Ladies.. Well I'm almost to the point where I have to start looking for my gown.. Excuse me while I faint . Out of all the planning I think this is going to be the thing that hits me in the gut the most. I'm excited and nervous at the same time, so I'm looking to you girls for help in where to find a good place to find the dress???

Re: Dresses, Dresses
I really loved the selection at RK Bridal in Manhattan- if you work in Manhattan and can go on your lunch hour- its practially empty.

Long Island mostly.. I think Manhattan is too crazy to go dress shopping. I work here every day, cannot imagine taking a train to go try on dresses LOL LOL

Re: Dresses, Dresses
Bridal Reflections in Carl Place was good - but once my sales lady heard that I wasnt buying the gown that day, she stopped showing me dresses. That really annoyed me.
I had a really great experience with Adriennes in Islip,
I actually thought they were OK at Bridal Couture also, but after all bad things I heard I wouldn't buy from them.
I thought Macy's in Smithhaven, and Bridal Suite in Centerreach was nice too.

Well, I have seen mixed reviews on this site for Adriennes as well. Are you looking to browse or really serious to buy (See Bunnymonkey, I can be drama free )

You are 99% drama free! I just sent you a teaser on the P.U. post - I don't think you like the drama anymore - after reading about wanting to get 'addicted' I just think you like to get your # of posts up!

Re: Dresses, Dresses
You ladies are a hoot! But yes I am seriously looking.. I went to David's a few months back just to get an idea of what I liked because I had no clue. I have a few basic ideas now, like off the shoulder etc.. but I hated the atmosphere there.. I'm afraid they will all be like that, and I guess thats why I have been putting off even planning to go shopping for a dress.. I wanted to go to the Wedding Center in Commack, because of the variety of dresses they had there, but after the reviews I heard on this board I'm quite leary about going...So I just wanted some other suggestions..

Re: Dresses, Dresses
Hun.. all the reviews get kind of sketchy. I don't know if we brides are just jumpy or what.. but as long as you don't mind a stranger watching you strip down then - your dress shopping should go pretty smoothly.
Actually I've gotten to be a bit of a exhibitionist... as my sales people sometimes leave the dressing room door open as they leave... oh the fun doesn't stop!!!
what kind of atmosphere were you looking for? one where you kind of pick your own stuff or one where its brought to you

Re: Dresses, Dresses
LOL what a thought.. naked dress shopping!!! Wawhoo! I really don't mind the atmosphere as long as the sales staff aren't pushy and they don't ignore your requests, like if I say no strapless and all they hand me is strapless gowns!

Re: Dresses, Dresses
I went to Burtons my first time and bought my dress there the same day. They were so great and there was no pressure at all. i literally stood in the mirror looking at my dress for 15. they didnt say anything, they didnt keep telling me how great it looks so i would buy it and they gave honest opions on all the ones i tried on.

Re: Dresses, Dresses
another thing about Burton's is that if you try on a dress somewhere else and its $$$$ they will beat the price they are awesome

Re: Dresses, Dresses
i got mine from burtons too. There's no BS, no prissy people. My dress was so well priced, that I honestly thought they forgot a digit on the price ticket.
