Dressy enough for a BM dress? (with pics)

Dressy enough for a BM dress? (with pics)

I just got the March JCrew catalogue, and fell in love with the 'embossed beach dress.' They make it in three different styles (I'd let my BM's choose which one they like best...they could all do different styles - I don't care)

These would all be in black....

Strapless

Halter

straps (I'm not a big fan of this one...but if it looks good on them....)

(back of it)

My ceremony is outdoors, in the summer, and my flowers are very non-conformed/non-traditional so I think it would fit the look of the wedding......

One of my Bm's was already planning on buying it, so I know they'd use it again!

What do you think?

Honestly, I'm not in love with it, but if I had to choose I like #2 (the halter) the best.

i think the first one would be the best choice...the 2nd one is real nice too but a little low cut in the front.

they look cute but i would have to see it in person - it may look too casual depending on the material!

I agree with Denise, I like the first best. If you have some extra busty girls they might look a little too much in the halter or might feel uncomfortable. What kind of material is it?

oh I really like them! I think that is a great idea! i am trying so hard to find dresses my girls will wear again.

Sorry for crashing... Honestly, I love the jcrew beach dresses, in fact I have 3 of them. That is exactly why I'd say don't use them. You want your BMs to stand out a little bit, and that dress is something pretty much everyone I know has one of . I'd go with another, pretty t-length that is made of a different material.

Has anyone/does anyone use cotton for bridesmaid dresses??

I just really don't like the look of satiny material or chiffon, or poly..... I heart cotton. hee hee

I DO like the raw silk look (like the first dress in my album), but those tend to be on the pricey side...

ehhhhhh, see, I don't think that I AM looking to have them stick out.... It's kind of like in sex and The City, how Charlotte doesnt make her girls wear the same dress kind of thing.... I'm not into the traditional thing...

But yeah, it might be too informal....

What about this dress? More formal?

(again, it'd be in black)

I think it depends on what you are wearing.

Theres definitely non-bridesmaid type dresses you can use, not the whole silk look and all that.

How about a retro type look, with 40's type dress, more simple, just knee length, i hope you know what im talking about lol

Thanks sugar

But for a little cotton number from JCrew, it's $265!

i think the one you just posted is more appropriate

i was just thinking - i would wear something dressier than that as a guest to the wedding - it would be kind of wierd if the BP was more casual than the guests!

you can also look - some designers make dresses with patterns . . . that may be more of the casual look you are looking for. . . think burberry but not burberry at all lol just for an idea!

I deifnitely love this dress...

and to answer you question from before... I'm not really a fan of the dress period... I don't know what it is, but it look oddly shaped on the modle... who knows though, it could be really nice in person.

but with j.crew.. you don't know until it's in your hand with stuff like this.... it's catalog order only right?
