Did any of you past brides get drunk at your wedding?
I am thinking this may happen to me – but not entirely intentionally:
I don’t really drink very often anymore – glass of wine or so with dinner. Cocktail here or there for a special night out or occasion.
I know people are going to keep asking me to have a drink with them.
I doubt I am going to eat very much – my appetite disappears when I am nervous.
I don't mind being a little tipsy - but I would be MORTIFIED if I got really bombed! Can you imagine me hugging the toilet in my gown?
Are any future brides nervous about this?

I feel the same way. I never drink and I am so nervous I will get drunk after a drink or two because I never eat when I am nervous as well.

I'll have one or two TOPS. I get all red and blotchy when I drink alcohol so i need to stay away from it on that day.

Me too! But I heard if you take a Pepcid AC right before, you start drinking, you don't get red at all. hmmm, will have to test that out one day =)

Re: Drinking Q!uestion
My cousins and sisters in law all said they didn't have enough time to get drunk at their wedding. They were too busy talking to people, dancing, etc. to really drink that heavily. Also, I think they kept putting their drinks down and losing them.
I'm all about having a great time, but I won't be getting drunk... I don't drink that much when I do go out to have a good time, so I doubt I'll be all about drinking a whole lot more at my wedding. I want to be sober for it.

Re: Drinking Q!uestion
i have heard it is impossible to get drunk at your own wedding bc even if you keep drinking - you can never really finish anything with all the running around and excitement
i do not plan on testing this theory! i will only drink champagne for toasts. . . and then for the after hours!

Re: Drinking Q!uestion
I am planning on just have a glass of champagne before the wedding in my bridal suite and then jsut haveing a couple of glasses at the reception. I drink slow anyway so i figure it will be easy for me to not have too much! And I figure Ill be busy dancing and talking that I won't have time to drink a lot. But I am having some of the liquors in the little chocolate cups at teh end of the evening! :)

Re: Drinking Q!uestion
I am mildly nervous about it because I may not realize how much I am drinking that day. I am even more nervous about FH getting drunk--he didn't realize how much he was drinking and got drunk once and started really dancing. FH cannot dance and it was the funniest thing--he tried to get all gropey on the dance floor and doesn't even remember what happened!

Re: Drinking Q!uestion
Ha- I kind of wish I could get a little drunk and just dance my @ss off, but I turn BRIGHT red when I have just one beer or one glass of wine, and that might look really odd in our pictures!! The redness forms a big giant blotch from my chest to my cheeks!

Be careful about drinking at the wedding. My friend had her wedding in late January, and she wanted to drink more, but going to the bathroom was too much of a process (her MOH had to go in the BR with her to help lift her dress!!)

Trust me, this is not true. I used to waitress at a RH and let me tell you, I have seen brides totally inebriated. Usually, it wasn't intentional.
MAKE SURE YOU EAT! Eat something substantive for breakfast (and lunch if you are a pm wedding) to make sure you don't have an empty stomach. Part of what you said is true...you don't have time to do anything with all the running around and that includes eating. Drinking alcohol on an empty stomach is a recipe for disaster.

Re: Drinking Q!uestion
I totally am. When I'm nervous I tend to drink to calm down. I'm also told that some of the Bridal attendants make sure you always have a drink in you hand. I might have her dilute the wine.

Re: Drinking Q!uestion
Everyone I spoke to who ha gotten married recently has told me even if you plan on drinking a lot you probably will be so caught up in everything else that it won't happen.
I wouldn't worry to much!
